I need some 'what kind of visa' advice from you for my current situation. Would be great to understand what is feasible and/or possible for myself and what you guys recommend:

- I live in Germany

- 50years old

- ready to step down from a well paid job and live from my savings for rest of my life

- own a Condo since 12years in Jomtien Beach

- have a Thai bank account

- travelled past 25yrs minimum 80x to Thailand all on 30/60 days stamps. Meaning 3-6times per year in average

- 4 stamps in my passport for 2025 so far btw...

- never extended or have any legal issues

- can provide any home financial requirements (leave my Thai bank account with necessary savings for spendings only)

- have spent money (ETF saving plan) which pays me 5.5k Euro/month for next 8years

- have a health precondition which excludes it probably from most insurances

- I spend 6months abroad from Germany with heavy travelling in and outside Thailand

What I am looking for is a visa which relieves me from checking or applying any trips in/out from Thailand most of the time. Meaning I love to travel and go to Lao, Vietnam, Cambodia etc. many times as well. So multiple entries etc. would be required.

Now I see there is DTV, LTR and other options but can't really figure out what makes sense while I don't really see a point for the Thailand privileged cards.

Health insurance I do currently for long termed travel insurance which only covers in serious situations and is better than nothing.

So for it's more health issues rather than financial aspects...

Do I remember reading that if you get health insurance once in the visa process that you are stuck with it and can’t get rid of it?

I am here on 60 day bisa exempt. I want to get a non-O immigrant visa and end up with a retirement visa. First I need to get a bank account and one bank is saying they will give it to me if I buy a ฿5000 health insurance policy. If I get that policy, is it going to cause a problem for me down the road? (I do NOT want Non-OA)

Hi everyone

I'm looking at retiring in Thailand and I know that to get the retirement visa extension you must to have health insurance. I've done some research and as far as I can see this is going to cost anywhere between $2000 and $4000 per year if you're over 60, which I am.

This seems like a lot :(. Does anyone have any better ideas about health insurance in Thailand? As far as I can see I need a minimum cover of 400,000 thai baht under the new rules. Is it possible to get cheaper health insurance than the figures given above?

Thanks

Requestimg visa advice:

Over 50. US citizen. Current income from multiple sources - investments, small w-2 income, and interest received from lending money.

I plan on spending ~6 months a year in Thailand, 4 months in Japan, 2 in usa and take short trips around the world. I don't mind getting health insurance in Thailand (currently looking at AXA).

I'm currently back in the US. Looking at Non-O retirement and Non-OA retirement or possibly METV. Ironically the Chicago and DC consulates show different wording for the requirements than each other.

What are the pros & cons to 90 day O vs 1 year OA?

Any experience with Chicago vs DC?

Both consulates require a bank account with a minimum balance but doesn't specify if the account can be outside of Thailand (don't really want to park a bunch of cash in Thai back account if possible plus since I'm not there can't set one up)

Thanks

Hello.

I am currently in the UK and due to fly to Thailand 21st November 2021 until 11th May 2022. My existing insurance policy runs out at the end of February but my Non O retirement visa is valid until May 2022.

My question is; Would I just need to take a new insurance certificate to immigration at the end of February to enable staying in Thailand till May.

Thanks
