I used LMG. I did the non OA for basically the same reasons. Good luck. 👌

I had an OA visa (2017-2022) and I have insurance from Pacific Cross. I bought the policy in 2018 when I was 62 years old. I have a 40,000 baht deductible to keep the price down and because routine care in Thailand is so affordable I would prefer to pay out of pocket. I have never made a claim so I can’t report on that but I am getting a substantial no claim discount. As a result the price of the policy not changed much in 8 years. I currently have a 10 year pensioner LTR visa and I am using the Pacific Cross policy to qualify for the LTR.
If you intend to keep your money out of Thai banks you are going to have to do a border run at the end of the first year. You will have to return to your home country after 2 years to apply for a new OA visa. If you travel to your home country frequently then that will be manageable but otherwise it sounds like a lot of trouble and expense.

Use AXA

On the website where you apply there is a list of recommended companies, these are the easiest options as they know you need a cover letter and do it automatically, I went with Axa from this list.

We are using AXA ,
only small issues the detectible
Min.100.-300Thousand Thb.
We had a few claims for medical issues and never reached the deductible, so always have to pay from our own pocket ,
My opinion ,if you can find other insurance Company what Thailand excepting for OA, with lower Deductible amount try it and calculate how much you will pay for your age /year may be is works better for you ,
(Unfortunately We had medical treatment few times
Ones 28Thousand Thb,other times 67Thousand Thb, hospital bill, can’t claim because didn’t reached my detectible limits,
yes, we do not wish to hold large sums of money in a thai account. If we apply from Canada, my husband gets the Non O-A visa and I get Non O trailing spouse, which I will extend once we are in Thailand to match his visa. He needs the health insurance from one of the "approved" vendors.
you can get a non-o in your country without a Thai bank account,Thai worthless insurance, police check ,medical I’ve had both the non-o is the way to go
