TLDR : Answer Summary
A user from Southeast Asia has inquired about good health insurance options for their upcoming move to Thailand, expressing that AIA Thailand seems expensive. The community has recommended several insurance companies, including WRLife, AXA, and CIGNA, along with experiences about the challenges of insurance coverage in Thailand. Members shared caution about the conditions under which some policies operate, emphasizing the importance of checking coverage details, especially for pre-existing conditions. Others shared their experiences with paying out-of-pocket for medical expenses, noting that this can sometimes be more economical than insurance premiums. Several users also mentioned a specific advisor and provided links for further assistance.

I am checking with pacific cross .. local Thai insurance.. it seems reasonable
yes, the worst ever. If you're not 100% healthy, they exclude almost everything, at least for 3-5 years. If so you can pay for the hospital by yourself. I'm happy with WRLife 👏👍
ic.. thanks for sharing ur experience.. I’ve checked WRLife and like them but unfortunately, they don’t have direct billing with Sriphat which I usually prefer to go to.
they pay the claims and cover pre-existing conditions. Ask for a quotation.

If/when I get to go back to los, if I need a hospital I'd go to a Government hospital because if I had to pay for hospital I'd rather my money go to a government hospital than a private one.
I pay oop for almost 21 yrs. No big thing as with most of us, tuck some away. You negotiate with Dr...alwats better than insur, as they say hospital charges this, but becsuse insured only 'pay this '
Pay out of pocket always cheaper than ' you only pay this.
Your paying insur sales salary , house, kids educ etc.
thing is in the West, there are rules and regulations for “discrimination” and punishment for breaking the laws. You can’t just bribe people and get back out in the streets like here. Big difference. You get what you pay for but not here hence “self insure” by default
15 years ago you didn't need it. Could pay out of pocket. An mri and a night at the hospital was ~200 US. But they found the western insurance game and started Gouging people. Now everytime I look at it there's in care out care up care down care!?! Wth, I don't understand stand it, and give up.

Just don’t get sick! I’ve got Parkinson’s Disease which nobody will cover. So I’m stuck with my company who knows I’m trapped so the price goes up every year with no relief in sight.
Insurance companies get paid not to pay out any money. If you get seriously ill they’re eventually going to bleed you dry. I’m having trouble making the payments now. What happens in 5-10 years? They just want to get rid of me before I get sicker. They should be illegal!
All private health insurance is unethical. They can call the UK NHS all they want, it's overstretched because of all the freeloaders crossing the English channel in dinghies and trucks, plus all the indigenous who take it for granted with their shitty lifestyle habits, but I cherish OUR NHS.
its the best and pays out no problems. Pick a cheaper one you might have a headache

AXA AIA CIGNA. Any insurance that is worth having is very expensive like back home I found. I already got to see how “insurance” really works in Thailand first hand so…I personally would not get any Thai insurance unless you get it through your employer.
I don’t know your situation but double check that you have coverage in Thailand(which I doubt).
If you’re looking for coverage like back home like USA is blue cross blue shield etc look at the 3 I mentioned. There are no rules or regulations here ie FTC, public health regulators etc.
if they decide to decline your coverage, what are you going to do? Sue them? If you buy insurance here, test it out within the first month to make sure they will pay for it. Don’t wait 3 years down the road to use it then get declined when you’ve paid 3 years of premiums.
, BDAE covers you in each country you want to. (Like Thailand + USA) worth to look at it, because you can choose the countries where you want to be insured.
yes I have. But no health issues. A friend of mine has health problems and they accepted him (without those problems, because he was honest) and they made a suggestion that he could be insured completely if he payed a certain amount more.
sadly many insurance companies will gladly pay for small claims. You only find out you have a problem when you have a major issue and really need the insurance
