TLDR : Answer Summary
Expats seeking medical treatment in Thailand may face challenges with insurance coverage, particularly regarding pre-existing conditions, which are typically not covered. Recommendations include purchasing basic health insurance to satisfy entry requirements, as insurance for current treatments is usually unavailable. Many commenters referenced specific policies and agencies, with some suggesting Bumrungrad for expediency. Additionally, it’s important to consider the minimum coverage required, including for COVID-19, and to navigate the complexities of Thai healthcare services effectively.

Medical Tourism is existing and a niche of tourism the thais encourage ...
You need to find an insurance company that will give you the basics for covid requirements... there’s endless threads on what’s best from
Whom and where ... your American Express card will also cover some things as will your travel insurance that you take for flights hotels etc ... but you have a thing that is unknown - knee surgery? Sex change ? Implants ? Heart surgery etc all depends and there is a waiting period you can’t just show up
And expect the insurance to pay for or existing ... so there’s a bit of a con needed ... you have choose man a dr ? A hospital? While things can be cheaper they can be same or more than elsewhere ... there’s lots of old conversations about tiers and which hospitals are more receptive than others ...
This document in the royal gazette defines tiers of farang types and Thai costs ... I’m sure there are updates to it but it gives you an idea that one cost you hear may not be your cost ... and that not all
Things you imagine to be covered are actually... with good homework you should be able to navigate The complexity of health care in Thailand ...
Surely you need same as everyone else entering Thailand, as required to get the CoE - which won't cover your treatment as this is preexisting. Just buy the basic insurance for period you here to tick the box on entry

You won't get health insurance cover for a pre-existing condition. It's one of the first questions they ask you when you buy an insurance policy.

If your talking about insurance to cover your treatment most policies you can't use for pre existing and for anything else you'll have to wait a few months to use it
