TLDR : Answer Summary
This conversation shares insights about obtaining quality health insurance for expats in Thailand. A strong recommendation is to consider long-term travel or expat health insurance from reputable companies that are familiar to the expat's home country. Major insurance providers like AXA, Allianz, Cigna, IMG, and Pacific Cross operate in Thailand. However, users warn about the complexities and difficulties in making claims, advising to thoroughly understand the insurance policies and possibly to avoid local Thai insurance plans that may not offer adequate coverage. Several participants in the discussion also highlight the importance of checking the premium costs, especially as one ages, and suggest reaching out to independent financial advisers for comprehensive market knowledge.
no, because I had 2 that were worthless policies. Only thing I can suggest is study hard how to make a claim early because they make it as complicated as possible to avoid paying. When asking people about their suggestions find out if they ever made a claim or if it was just cheap and they never used it.

Hi. Very good comments so far. I’m an independent financial adviser who lives and works here and have access to the whole market for you both Thai and international insurers.
agreed. The first thing I always do to new clients is send them an email with some information.
Anyway if you want to then dm me and we can pick up.

Thai brokers aren't allowed to sell foreign health insurance companies so they will push the rubbish Thai ones. Check you can afford the premiums when 70s80s otherwise what's the point, 300k+ depending on age now
One of most asked questions apart from recently been overshadowed by DTV

Many are total garbage in my opinion so be careful. Go through the claim process before you need it because they will make it as difficult as possible for you. Insurance Companies don't make money by paying out what they should imo

Many of the major international players are here in Thailand. Axa, Allianz, Cigna ,IMG, Pacific Cross. Reach out to them for a quote.

How long are you planning on living in Thailand. Either way, for the first up to 5 years I would suggest getting a reputable long term travel / expat health insurance from a reputable insurance company active in your home country. That way, you understand the contract, legal framework, and your legal rights better. Will help to make an informed choice and to get your money in case you ever need to.
