TLDR : Answer Summary
The original question concerns the medical certificate needed for entry into Thailand, with users expressing confusion over its purpose and requirements. Comments reveal concerns about current entry restrictions tied to COVID-19, alongside discussions about the complications surrounding travel to Thailand, research on obtaining the certificate, and the implications for the tourism industry. The majority agree that the current entry conditions are designed to discourage travel during the pandemic.

I would imagine that people’s holiday or extra money has been spent on quarantine back in their home countries. The economic fall out from the Corvid 19 really hasn’t stated yet ? Lots of companies will start laying off the foreign workers first to cut costs. I would think by the time people start traveling again or will people start traveling again like before Corvid 19 that’s assuming people still have their jobs, the extra cash to travel, airlines are in business and the new costs to travel?

How long until tourism comes back ?

It will take months if not years for people no matter the nationality to start traveling again.

The Chinese tourists to the rescue line has been the theme for ages already but the Chinese will be in the same predicament of no money to travel unless it’s very cheap or practically free guided tours that go to the limited tour destination then back to the hotels. Not much of a trickledown economic effect with those kind of tours. That kind of complaint has been well documented.

I would think that there will have to be big discounts and hassle free travel to get the tourism numbers back up to even a small percentage of what they were before the Corvid 19 outbreak. We all will just have to wait and see ?

If you are talking about entering the country you will at present also need 100,000 USD health insurance, which covers Covid19 in Thailand.

Good luck with acquiring that 🙄💬

. The only problem with your scenario is that at present foreigners are banned from entering Thailand, so a certificate and insurance will not help at all!

No I'm not talking about entering the country, why are you creating your own scenario, adding bits and wishing me good luck? Alot of institutions now require you to have a medical certificate clearing you of Covid. I want to know where I can get one and how much they cost! Nothing else

Just print one out and say it's fake like the US virus.

Fly to Thailand still ban till 30 April, CAAT Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand will announce the next plan by tomorrow. If they will lift the ban or extend it.

Will update here if anything change.

Didn't the government set up a quarantine site in Sattahip?

Is this coming into thailand or for going out of thailand?

Download the form from the Thai embassy webpage and ask your doctor(where you reside) to fill up and sing

How long did it take to get the results?

Are flights being allowed back in April 30th?
Garnet **********
Yes the FCO has told me that i can take an EVA air flight home if i wish.
Bobby ********
@Garnet *********
. Nobody knows. Flights are coming in at the moment bringing Thai citizens in, and then leaving again with ex-pats going home. No decision has been made by the government.

If tourists are required to hunt around and try and obtain a pretty elusive health certificate and then spend the first 2 weeks of your holiday quarantined in your hotel room nobody is going to travel to Thailand and the authorities know this. These entry requirements are to stop people travelling here over the next few months. Come the high season and if the virus in under control I can imagine the requirements will be dropped

I can’t but wonder what will become of the tourism industry ?

I think it will be fair to say that a few business will go bankrupt especially in the tourism industry that is a absolute luxury for the most part. Then comes down to the issue of money ? I believe a lot of peoples extra money they save for tourism has been spent on quarantine costs for many weeks. Will the tourism industry will bounce back like nothing happened ?

What will air travel be like ? Ticket prices? Will people want to travel like before because airlines will be requiring heath certificates before one is allowed to fly ?

if too expensive and complicated people just won’t come back like they did before then the bankruptcy’s will start in droves and no amount of budget tours from China can cover the entire tourism industry.

If the process is too expensive and complicated tourists will not come back like before.

If easy and not expensive then people will come back quickly 🤷‍♂️

Thoughts ?

The entry requirements at the moment are to stop people travelling over the next few months. They want to present the image that they have everything under control. By November and the start of high season im sure there will be no entry requirements

It's the Thai way of saving face...instead of just an outright ban they'll implement impossible conditions instead
Clive ********
You got no chance .just wait until after 30th April when flights are aloud back in to thailand and maybe just maybe thai immigration will drop the medical certificate.

Makes sense

one of the reasons they’ve given for the embargo on flights until 30th is so they have time to prepare government quarantine accommodation. So ai think it’s safe to assume anyone entering will be subject to 14 day quarantine

What about retire visa

never underestimate the power of the Chinese tourist
Bobby ********
@Clive *******
. I doubt it very much. There could be some relaxation of flights coming in, but I think they'll be heavily conditioned. Possibly 14 day quarantine, health certificate before flying and medical insurance. They're not just going to throw open the borders. And the same could also apply at land borders. I think the days of same day border bounces are over
Bobby ********
Medical Certificate for what exactly?
Julian ********
@Bobby *******
im assuming he's talking about the Covid certificate that's required to enter a lot of countries since the outbreak.
