What steps can I take to obtain a medical certificate for my Thailand STV application if my doctor cannot provide it?

Hi all,

I am Spanish and trying to get a STV. The Thai embassy in Spain is requiring a medical certificate (stating I do not have Leprose, Tuberculosis among other rare diseases). My family doctor said the Spanish Health System can't sign this certificate, but having this certificate signed by a doctor is a requirement to get the Visa. I feel completely lost on this one.

Does anyone know who I should contact or what I can do??

Thank you all!

I too had a LOT of trouble with this. I ended up paying 700 USD to an agency that specializes in vaccines etc. for people travelling abroad. They gave me a whole bunch of tests and in about 3 weeks they returned it to me signed with all the official stuff. Perhaps try a place which has health professionals but is not just a standard medical practice.

Tu médico básicamente no quiere colaborar contigo.

mine needed to be legalized by the ministery of foreign affairs. They check if the doctor signing is registered.

Thai embassy in the Netherlands wants you to legalize your certificate of good conduct, certificate of population and this health certificate (which was easy for me to get). Then the Thai embassy even 'legalizes' it some more them selves. Of course everything comes with costs.

oh god, what a nightmare... the Thai embassy in Spain asked me to legalize my criminal record (which is taking ages)... Can't wait to get my reward (the visa, hopefully) for all this fuss...

if their is a penalty there must be a cause. The op said her doctors couldn't do it so it can't have a sanction if a possibility of breach doesn't arise.

If Spanish doctors were not allowed to do it, the local embassy would know that all certificates they receive are fakes. I'm sure her doctor is a douche strict on rules that don't exist.

Go on the registration website for doctors in your country. Choose one in your area and enter their registration number and name and scribble a signature. Job done.

The STV is just too much hassle. How long are you looking to visit Thailand?

I guess we never know cause different sources provide different info 🙄 I found out in end October they decided they would extend the STV for another year (as far as I know, they initially offered this possibility in September 2020 til Sep 2021).

I'm on my first 3 months of STV, I'm set to renew for 3 months next week. I already checked with immigration, no issues.

I have thought about that... the doubt is, how many times can I get out of Thailand and go back inside? Thai embassy in Spain doesn't know this, so I have no idea if I could repeat that process of coming back several times... does anyone know?

Yeah they don’t like too many land crossings. The STV extensions are ending soon anyway so you won’t be able to stay longer than your original permitted stay.

From the Thai government I guess:). At first I could not apply for STV three months back because they were still waiting for confirmation, then they changed the end date to September 2022 I believe. Could be a month off. So you might want to check again if you want to go for STV.

The STV extensions are supposed to be ending on 26th November. Alternative option would be to get a 60 day tourist visa and extend 30 days so getting 90 days. Then you could pop into Cambodia and do that process again. Get to see another beautiful country and save yourself the restrictiveness of the STV.
