Is the visa extension (with embassy letter or medical certificate) available to former Non-B Visa Holders who went onto amnesty, or only tourists who went onto amnesty?
My non-b renewal process is taking longer than expected, so with the 26th approaching soon I'd love to know!
Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The extension of visa validity with a letter from the embassy or a medical certificate appears to be available to former Non-B Visa holders who have taken advantage of the amnesty. However, there are varying opinions and it is essential to confirm with local immigration offices. Emergency medical extensions are subject to strict criteria, and borderline cases may be rejected by immigration authorities.
Just a note. You can only get a medical extension if you are truly in medical need of a procedure, or are basically bed ridden recovering from an operation. Immigration has turned down lots of people with a medical unfit to fly certificate simply because they were well enough to go to immigration, sit waiting for their queue number, without any distress physically. Immigration decides by the 26th you can fly out.
Hi Isabelle, don’t quote me on this as we have been told different things from different entities (🤦🏻♀️) but we were told that it was available to former Non-B visa who went onto amnesty as well!
The one-stop service at Chamchuri Square said that in order to process a new Non-B, we would have to ‘cancel’ the previous Non-B that was expired first, before going into an extension, then re-apply for the Non-B..
Thank you so much. Yes my lawyer did tell me she has cancelled my previous non-B. Apparently it had to be done quite soon after the amnesty began to avoid a fine.
