My wife (not official) brain cancer and cannot do much other then breathe. My non o extension comes due in February next year. She owns the lamd and house where we live with my 13 year old daughter (not official). She has a brother and sister (with family) with us in one of her houses. Any idea on what I need to do? Clarfication: I am on a non retirement extension. I do not want her land or any of her houses. I live in nomans land out in the country North of Korat. I am 68 years old. I do not want to move to another house. I know I can extend if I get a lease elswhere. We did not sign a lease for where I am staying with her now which is at her house.

Hi, In June I was in the process of applying for a Retiree non-imm OA visa through the Thai Embassy in London (by e-visa process). They required a doctor certificate to say I did not have Leprosy, Elephantosis, Syphilis stage 3, drug addiction. My doctor in Wales refused to do it, as it's not a service available from NHS and they dont have tome to do private work. Basically I couldn't find a doctor or travel clinic anywhere to do it. So I asked Thai Embassy how to proceed, and they said apply for 90 Day non-imm O and sort out the extension in Thailand.

So that's how I'm here, and now working through what I need for the 12 month extention. The London Embassy was clear on financial requirements. It was 65,000 Baht per month income OR 800,000 Baht in a bank (see pic). Now I am here, the requirement is equally clear that I must have BOTH 65k income AND 800k in a bank. There is no mention of a medical certificate at all.

Has anyone else come across this dilemma before? Is there any way of overcoming it?

Thanks for your help.

Hi all. I'm a 60s Aussie and have been to Thailand a few times in the last 3 years and now looking at a long stay, from May 2023. Have read and viewed lots re visas, and was thinking that best approach was to arrive on a tourist visa, then convert to 90 day Non-immigrant O (NIO), then go for 1 year extension. NIO seemed the better choice due to no health insurance requirement (although I'd get some for myself anyway).

I was surprised to see on the Thai embassy website here in Australia, that I could apply for a NIO here, before going to Thailand. I had thought that I could only apply for non-immigrant OA in Australia, with the big health insurance component.

I emailed them to double check, and they said yes, NIO can be applied for, here in Australia. But they wouldn't answer my query re whether I could then go for a 1 year extension of it, once in Thailand.

Any thoughts, anyone?

BTW, the NIO details on the Thai embassy's website in Australia cite these requirements:

3.5 Proof of adequate finance

* A bank statement in the past six months showing a deposit account with the minimum fund of THB 20,000 per person

3.6 Health Insurance

* A certificate of health insurance issued by Thai insurance companies covering the entire period of stay in Thailand containing the detail of coverage as follows; In-house patients of not less than THB 400,000/policy year, as for out-patients, not less than THB 40,000/policy year.

Hello. I haven’t left Thailand since Covid hit, I am on non-o extension based on Thai spouse. In July I will be traveling to Vietnam and when I come back (at least of of now) to my understanding will need re entry permit and health insurance covering 10,000$ for Thailand pass.

What are options for insurance? Help appreciated. How long does the insurance need to cover? I also have a work permit, if that matters. Thanks.

I stay in Thai based on 90 days marriage visa now. I was going to apply 1 year visa and Loei immigration strictly advised me to put 400k deposit. However, I read in rules that I should prove at least 40k monthly income on thai bank account. I have an account in Krungsri and calculated my statement, so during last year I transferred nearly 460k in total. If I add f.e.30k this month (annual income will be over 480k) and apply next month will it be an option for visa to avoid 400k deposit?

Hello, I'm on a nonO extension based on Thai wife and child. My American father is going to be moving in with us. I read that it is theoretically possible for him to also get a nonO family visa through these family relationships but I have my doubts. Has anyone done something like that?

I know the different paperwork and financial requirements of the different visas/extensions, but for anyone who has experience with both extension types, would retirement based extensions be easier or more difficult in terms of queues and potential additional evidence requests (in Chiang Mai)?
