Is it possible to change from a non b extension to a non o retirement ext once the non b extension expires? Udate and clarfication: I want to move to Korat after my non b extension expires. I was told to go to Korat immigration 15 or more days and apply by Pathumthani immigration. I am being told that I have to cancel my current extension before I apply which is not posible as I have to finish my contract.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you cannot simply let your Non-B extension expire to switch to a Non-O retirement extension. You will need to obtain termination paperwork from your employer to cancel your current extension. After cancellation, you can then apply for the Non-O retirement extension. It's advisable to visit the immigration office in Korat 15-45 days before your Non-B extension ends to handle this process.

One probem, I have is that I am planning on moving to Korat. Pathumthani immigration said that I should go to Korat immigration 15 to 45 days before my contract ends on March 22nd. How can I cancel my extension on the same day in Korat? What do I do? Will Korat immigraton give me some time without cancelling my non b extension? Can I apply for the non o retirement extension at Pathumthani while staying at a hotel? My original visa was a tourist visa.

your original entry might have been on a tourist visa but the last Non-Imm type one is the Non-B that you got your employment extensions from. AND you're not going to get any non-O visa, all you're doing is canceling your current extension based on employment and then applying for a new extension based on retirement.

You are making it hard by moving between the time you stop working and want to get your retirement extension.

The sensible thing to do would be to cancel your employment extension at the office where you are and then immediately apply for a new yearly extension based on retirement. (It's issued the day you apply) THEN move to Korat, and file a new TM30, start doing 90 day reports etc

This sounds good. Stay in Pathumthani fot a little bit. I will still need a lease right? I am currently staying at the University. I could stay at my sister in laws condo a d sign a lease.

@John ******
do that, go file a TM30 showing you moved addresses in Pathum Thani, use that address to get the year extension and THEN move to Korat AFTER you have your year extension

you get paperwork from your employer stating you stop work on xxx date, and you go to the immigration office about 2 weeks BEFORE that date and cancel your current extension.

Then you go to the new immigration office where you will live and apply for a yearly extension based on retirement.

There is no "you need to do it 15 days before". You can apply for a new extension any time before the cancelled extension stamp runs out.

as a rule there isn't a problem getting the termination paperwork from an employer early (but with the actual date you stop on the paperwork) and then going to the immigration office a week or so before that day.

They usually will cancel your extension and give you a new stamp that lets you stay until the date on the termination paperwork.

nope, you CANNOT do it by just letting the Non-B extension expire :( (thanx
@Stu***
for catching that (y) )

You need to get documentation from your employer and go cancel the extension you're on based on employment and then after it's cancelled you immediately apply for a new extension based on being over 50 (retirement) by meeting the requirements.

Well, I am sure the school will not cancel before the contract ends. Paperwork will not be a problem but are you telling me that I should go on the same day? The last day?

@John ******
you need to clearly cancel current extension even it's expires on that day. You may be able to go to immigration office a several days in advance to cancel your current extension on xx day, and apply new extension.
