TLDR : Answer Summary

Various comments discuss options and considerations, particularly for South Africans applying for Non-O or Non-B visas. They highlight the necessity of going to the right consulate and the potential unavailability of the Thai consulate in Penang due to relocation. Also depends on what type of visas you're wanting to do... if it's non O or B visas, you can only do them in Singapore as South Africans.

Chrisna Van Wyk this is not correct. The restriction is only, no one know why, KL related only.

Then only Singapore can help.. you as South Africans cannot apply anywhere else, unless you can wait in that country 4-6 weeks. It's on the websites..

Pick a different thai consulate or wait until they re-open.
They are just moving buildings and may open back up in as few as two days or it might take longer.

Please re check... before you guys get there and get shown away or have to make new plans...
There is only one thai consulate in Penang, and it's closed starting on the 2nd until they move buildings. It could take a couple days OR it could drag out. :(
I'd say if you HAVE to go get a visa now, go to the thai consulate in Kuala Lumpur, or maybe the thai consulate in Vientiane Lao.
