TLDR : Answer Summary
The original question inquired about potential changes in visa rules for Thailand, specifically concerning charges for the 60-day tourist visa. The responses clarified that there has always been a charge for tourist visas, but some nationalities, including UK passport holders, can enter Thailand visa-exempt, receiving a free entry stamp for a stay of 60 days. Overall, the consensus is that the fundamental rules have not changed, and any fees required for visas have remained consistent.
There has always been a charge for a tourist visa. Depending on the passport you hold you may be able to enter Thailand “Visa Exempt” which isn’t a visa it’s just a free entry stamp allowing you to stay for 60 days. Your profile picture suggests you may be from the UK which means that would apply to you.
If you had applied for a tourist visa from the UK it would have cost you £30. For British passport holders there is generally no reason to do so as you’d get a visa exempt entry for free. Both options give you a 60 day stamp on arrival.
