Anybody use VA payments for LTR visa? I’ve heard you have to verify all pensions on 1040. Any info?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The query is about using VA payments for the Long Term Resident (LTR) visa in Thailand, with specific concerns regarding pension verification through the 1040 form. Several comments confirm that individuals have used their VA benefits successfully for the LTR visa by providing a benefits letter and bank statements showing deposits. It's advised to include a cover letter explaining finances and attach all necessary documents in one PDF. There are also inquiries about financial requirements and the acceptability of US bank statements.

I'm thinking of applying. I'm on Non-O retirement now. Can the bank statements be a US bank?

I used my VA benefits for my LTR. No need for a lawyer. Use a cover letter to explain your finances, add the statements/letters as attachments and PDF in to one file.

You need to update the BOI address on the cover letters:

Thailand Investment and Expat Services Center (TIESC)

6th and 7th floors, One Bangkok (MRT Lumphini)

PARADE Zone, Rama IV Road, Lumphini, Pathum Wan, Bangkok

thank you! I’m afraid to ask, but anything else I should think of besides the financial and Tricare information? I cannot thank you enough for your help.

no those are the big two. Just ensure the documents you submit meet the requirements. After you submit, if they need more information they will ask for it. It’s an easy process if you are organized with your document submission so the BOI doesn’t have to guess if you meet the requirements.

You will need two Tricare letters for BOI

- Proof of coverage: Log in to https://

milconnect.dmdc.osd.mil/. Click on the "Obtain proof of health coverage" button. Click the tab "Proof of Coverage." Click your name and the button to generate the letter.

- Document showing what Tricare covers. Send email to

. Tell them you are applying for a visa abroad and need a letter documenting Tricare coverage abroad. Only takes a few days for them to respond with a letter.

Also use a cover letter to explain and add attachments into one file

Yes. I showed my benefits letter from the VA and backed it up with the 12 months of deposits that show it’s from the VA.

Yeap, I did the same thing and had to show them 12 months of bank statements from the previous year. I highlighted each month for them to make it easier.

I did it myself. Very easy to do. I know probably 10-15 people that have done it themselves. I do not know anyone who used a lawyer/agent.
