Hi. I am applying for the DTV under the soft power provision. On the application in the travel information sections n it asks for the intended date of arrival and the intended date if departure. For the intended date of departure do I need to put 180 days since the stay is renewed every 180 days OR do I put the 5 years? Thank you in advance for any insight you may offer.

Hello everyone!

I’m Franklin, 22 years old and planning on moving to ko samui for at least 5-6 months this November. I wanted to get some insight from people who have done this and would be so kind as provide some insight on how I could do this as well.

I have pretty much everything sorted out, just need to get clear on Visas as it is currently hard to understand what my best option is.

I’m an EU passport holder, I heard that I can stay in Thailand for up to 60 days without a visa and then extend my stay 30 days at the immigration office in Thailand, first of all is this correct? For now this seems like a good option.

However, it only covers me for 3 months, if I wanted to say travel down to the Philippines or Malaysia after the additional 30 days expires for maybe 2 weeks and then come back, would that allow me to stay another 60 days and would I be able to extend it again for 30?

I also looked into the DTV visa, this one seems doable except I don’t currently have 15,000eur liquid. Would I be able to use a family members bank statement or does it have to be my own?

Again, any recommendations and any advice would be much appreciated. If you’re in Ko Samui this November would happily buy you a beer 🙂

Cheers,

Hello all…. I’m about to apply for a six month tourist visa in the UK. As it is necessary to leave the country every sixty days, does this mean that if I left the country and returned just before it expired, that I would be stamped in for another sixty days…..? (Essentially giving me eight months). Also, if the visa isn’t issued until after I have arrived in Thailand, would I just need to leave the country and return again I order to activate the visa….? Thanks in advance….

Hello! I applied for a 6-month multi entry TV but it didn’t get approved until after I arrived in May so got 30 day visa exempt. The reason it was delayed was they needed my entry and exit plane tickets which I submitted 3 times prior to approval.

I went to the Koh Tao immigration office to see if they can honor the visa and one of the volunteer student girls told me I have to leave the country and re-enter for it to be valid. Can anyone confirm this is accurate? My 30 days are up on June 13 so I will have to apply for an extension. It’s very frustrating to have to pay 1900 baht for 30 days when I already paid 200 USD for the ME TV and now the visa exemption is supposed to be 60 days.

Thanks in advance for any advice or assistance!

So with the new law going into effect, how does this affect the 6 month visa? Do I get 60 days then leave for a day and get another 60 days and so on? So theoretically I can get 6 months with a 6 month visa?

I currently have a multi entry tourist visa valid until July 23. I need a new passport. Will I be able to transfer it to the new passport or will I have to apply again before I return to Thailand. Thanks.

If I plan to get a multi entry tourist visa every year (ie spend 8-9 months in Thailand and 3 months back in Uk).

Would I run into any problems with immigration or can I basically do this every year?
