Do I need to complete the 90-day reporting in person if I frequently travel outside Thailand?

I understand that the 90 day reporting must be done in person for the very first time, however, in my situation I travel outside of Thailand every couple of months which resets my 90 days and therefore I will never have to go to immigration to report in person. Any issues with this, i.e. never completing the first reporting at an immigration office in person? TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
In Thailand, the requirement for 90-day reporting is only applicable if you remain in the country for 90 consecutive days. Since the user travels out of Thailand every couple of months, they reset their 90-day count and are not obligated to report in person as long as they do not exceed the 90-day stay. Community members confirm that if you never reach that 90-day limit, you shouldn't face issues with not completing the first reporting at an immigration office in person.

I have been on a visa for the past 2 years in Thailand. Never stayed 90 days, and hence never did a 90 day report - no issues. Also nobody ever asked for a TM30

With regards to the TDAC, I believe that all countries will require some form of a digital arrival card in the near future.

It's a stupid rule. I've lived full-time here for over 20 years. I usually do the 90 day report on line BUT if I dare go away on holiday, I have to do it in person which means re-submitting copies of multiple documents; all of which they have had a hundred times already, the data of which has not varied in decades. Now TDAC is yet another chore which is doing wonders for Vietnam's tourism figures. I have a year long visa AND a multiple re-entry permit yet I have to drive in person to an Immigration office; search and pay for a parking space to give in my details again which are already on a central computer in the office.

That is why there is agent.

There are agents because Thai Immigration makes all things over-complicated - they get a kick-back if an agent irons out the wrinkles.

yeah, sadly yes. That is Thailand. In thailand, following thai rules makes easy for foreigners. hiring and paying agents are one of long times thai rules. 😂

What a complainer. I did not know the TDAC with such rocket science for you. For me a whole 2 minutes, not a big deal. Have you ever heard of a Visa agent? All things having to do with immigration are very easily handled. Being able to stay in Thailand is a privilege not a right. So no sympathy for you.

What is not expensive to you is very expensive to an 83 year old pensioner on a frozen State pension worth 50% of its present rate.

See answer above. I've stayed 20+ years in Thailand; it has cost me 50% of my State Pension. I've earned the right to complain after spending millions of baht here. I've never used an agent, you're obviously uncaring about finances. I've got Visas for friends/wives/girlfriends/ for UK; USA; EU so I can find my way through Thailand's deliberately over-complicated procedures.

I wouldn't say I'm uncaring about finances. But I put a high value on my time. If I can outsource tasks to other people that know far more about it than I do, I will do it without question, especially since it's not expensive.

The TDAC takes a couple of minutes and can be done on arrival if necessary. It just replicates the old TM6 Arrival card. Hardly a chore!

Indeed. I find it very convenient now instead of scrambling around looking for a pen to complete that piece of paper!

Unless you are in Spain on a slow Internet connection aged 83. It took me two hours of frustration as it refused to accept my Thai telephone number. Eventually I made one up & went forward which shows what a waste of time/resources TDAC is.

Sounds frustrating and yes, anyone with a poor internet connection is likely to have problems. If you use the terminals at the airport it might be easier in that instance.

Don't do a TM30 on return, if you are staying in the same place. Then you can do a 90 day online still.

That's what I do and no problems.

I was informed that it is for all TM30s. Coz they are inputted into a national system and not regulated by each immigration office.

each Immigration office still applies very different rules from province to province. I don't think it's a system or technological matter.

In this day and age, you'd think everything would be on a National system; one assumes TDAC is?

Don't be surprised if sometime they bomb you .

Would it be so hard to drop in to an immigration office and check that the way you are doing this is suitable to do what you do.

It's not a good idea to do things that may not fit the intentions of the rules.

Certainly not hard dropping into an immigration office if required but just seeking feedback here first from those who are in the same situation and in the know. Feedback so far indicates I am not breaking any rules. All good. 😀

Nope I've never actually had to file one either. Fly home every 2.5 months

Same here. I've been some 15 months so far and had to file it only once. Besides that time, I've never spent more then 90 continuous days in the kingdom. That time it was like 96 days only, but I didn't risk not filing it.

Do you have a specific concern? Thus far on my re-entries to Thailand immigration officers have never asked for TM30. Nonetheless I inform my landlord of all travels and have an updated TM30 if required.

I do not have any particular concern, merely mentioning the fact that one, depending on the immigration office, is required to submit a completed TM 30 upon returning to Thailand.

If you submit or do not is your concern 🤨

Ahh okay. I actually don’t submit a TM30 form on arrival. My landlord does this and provides me a receipt thereafter. Because I will not be staying in Thailand longer than 90 days I don’t have to report the TM30 to an immigration office. Well that what it sounds like based on other comments…

Just ensure your TM30 is kept up to date, hopefully by hotel or property owner

It is called a 90 day report for a reason. If you are not in Thailand for 90 days then no need to report.

No issue at all. The need to report only applies if you have been in Thailand for 90 consecutive days. If you never stay that long then there is no need to report.
