Can DTV visa holders travel freely within Thailand and visit nearby countries without issues?

Hi all, those already on a DTV - have you had any issues traveling within Thailand? Say, you are based in Chiang Mai and want to visit Phuket for a week. Is this problematic in any way? 

I saw some info on a website that said DTV holders might experience issues traveling to other provinces (away from where they are based) for short trips. It seemed counterintuitive to me, but I want to check if this has been problematic for anyone. 

Also, has anyone experienced issues having short trips to nearby countries (Laos, Indonesia, etc.)? Or do just get stamped for 180 days when you arrive back to Thailand (no questions asked about why you travelled)? Thanks so much 😊

You can freely travel wherever you like. My whole family is on the DTV visa, and we've been traveling to various provinces in Thailand without any problems (just ensure your TM30 is updated). We've also gone in and out of Thailand without any issues.

I wish I’d saved the site I read that on - it said something like DTV holders may encounter issues traveling within the country (to other provinces) for short trips. I haven’t read anything else to suggest this is true, but I thought I’d check here in case anyone had experienced it. Glad to hear there isn’t much veracity to the claim!

Don't listen to rumors. You can actually ask immagration anything you don't understand. They are not the enemy you have been issued a visa to stay if you ask a question they won't ask you to leave. Seriously go to the source not some farang who doesn't know
