Hi all, I have a question regarding the prospect of converting my wife's 60-day SETV to a Non-O follower/trailing/dependent visa in-country:

I am currently on a teacher Non-B visa, and my school has begun the process of applying for my work permit. As far as I understand (based on the info sheet supplied by Immigration: [members only]), my wife will not be able to convert her visa until I have my one-year extension and my work permit.

Given our situation, and the prospect of work permit processing taking a fair bit of time, I have two questions:

1. Provided I receive my work permit well before my visa expiration, how early would I be able to apply for an extension of stay? (I saw a previous post mentioning that the extension can be applied for as early as 30-45 days (45 days at CM, where I am located).)

1. If necessary, would my wife be able to apply for a 30-day extension of stay before her 60 days run out, and then convert to the Non-O once I receive my extension?

Grateful for your advice :)

Hi there. First off thanks for all the forum advice. Quick question.

Our 60 SETV expires July 2. We are US passport holders.

Does that mean we have to leave that day or can we extend on that day?

The reason for my asking is the Airbnb person hasn’t filled out the TM30 forms before and he’s filling them out now. We will take them into Nonthaburi immigration on Monday July 1st.

But if there are issues I was thinking we could get a hotel night of July 1 near chaeng wattana. Then on July 2 we would go there and do the extension there instead. But wanted to make sure there are no issues going on the day our visa expires (July 2).

Thanks again!

Josh.

I'm arriving on a 60 day SETV by plane. Does POOT have to be within 60 days or 90 days? Lots of conflicting info regarding this.

Hi everyone,

I'm wanting to apply for a 60 day SETV, and was wondering if any of you have advice regarding applying from a consulate or embassy in Cambodia, as this is the closest border to where I am at that time.

The reason I ask is that I'm aware some consulates and embassies are easier to get visas from. A friend of mine had to drop getting a 60 day tourist visa from Penang because they asked her for a letter of invitation and more, despite just having been to Thailand on 2 entries the last year staying only 2 months in total, and I'd love to avoid a similar experience. 😊

Please forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I thought I saw somewhere it was possible... If I'm in the middle of a 60 day SETV and leave the country, is it possible to put the 60 days on hold when I leave and resume them when I come back 3 days later? Thanks in advance.

I have a friend (US passport) who will be arriving to BKK next week. Her plan is to enter visa exempt for 30 days and then transit to Cambodia and Laos and eventually return to Thailand either visa exempt or on a 60 day SETV. She does not currently have proof of onward travel though she will be bringing 20,000b equivalent. Her planned stay in the region is 90 days total.

What is a good itinerary and plan to avoid any hassles with immigration?

have just returned from my latest trip to Chaing Mai and stayed 50 days using 60 day SETV. I am due to go again april and wish to apply for another 60 day SETV. I have previously had an METV 90 day issued last year. I am wondering if applying for another 60 day SETV will raise any issues. Or am I better going on 30 day visa waiver and making a short trip out of County i.e. fly to Maldives etc for 3-4 day vacation and then return back to CM ... any ideas suggestions greatly appreciated
