Hello all, appreciate advice here - we’re applying for an SETV from the U.K. and will have an outgoing flight as part of the procedure. Does the outgoing flight need to be within 60 days? Even though we’ll get an extension?

Thanks for your help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement for an outgoing flight ticket when applying for a Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV) from the UK can vary by embassy. Generally, some embassies require onward travel within the 60 days of entry, while others may accept tickets dated for 90 days due to the possibility of an extension. Applicants are advised to check the specific requirements of the Thai consulate in London and it has been noted that 90-day onward tickets have been accepted in various cases.

When we got our setv (uk) online when didn’t put a return flight at all , we just noted in additional info box that we may extend an extra 30 days and as we were possibly going to be travelling to another Asian country we didn’t know from where we would be travelling back from , they were fine with that and didn’t query it , our airline (emirates) didn’t question it either as we had a visa

- London currently state that you definitely need to produce a ticket out of Thailand.

they may have tightened things up , we did ours in October and had no issues

90 days is fine for London. I have checked this with the embassy previously and been granted a SETV many times.

I've seen multiple people say they submitted a 90 day onward ticket and were approved from London. But the worst case scenario is they email you asking for a different ticket within 60 days if they don't approve.

People keep in mind this person is applying for the tourist visa at the thai consulate in the UK.

DO NOT post what the requirements were at any other consulate other than the one in London 🙂

The formal requirements on the websites sometimes also differs from their actual demands when you apply.

they're applying online using the eVisa system and looking at what that consulate requires on their website before they apply is a good way to know if they need to show onward travel in 60 days (as some consulates require) or 90 days

(Yes, this is a side thing, but even if an embassy website stated minimum two inbound and two outbound tickets for a METV, they issued it anyway with just one inbound ticket.)

This gets asked a lot and it is a embassy/consulate requirement.

Some require you show onward travel within the 60 days you'll get stamped in for on the tourist visa

Some will accept onward travel dated out 90 days because they know you can apply for an extension

Go to the website of the embassy you're applying thru and read the requirements they have posted for a tourist visa.

Worst case you, apply and they email you asking for proof of onward travel within 60 days
