Hey Guys,

I am going to apply for the DTV Soft Power Visa. Now they are talking about a Sponsorletter as alternative for the 500.000 baht. Does anyone know what the Sponsor letter needs to contain?

Would be aswsome to get some tips.

Hi all,

I know that when you leave thailand your passport must be valid for at least 6 months. In my case i am leaving thailand on march 8 2026. My passport expires on september 14 2026. So technically my passport is valid for 6 months and 6 days. Do the thai authorities also count that way is my question?

I went to Thai Revenue department (Chalong) earlier with all the correct paperwork and they told me I couldn't get a TIN taxpayer number until after the tax year has ended. Is this normal? (doesn't sound like a smart way of doing things)

Edit: Sounds like it's just another case of ineptitude and I wont be able to sort this out at the office. Does anyone know an agent that will get me a TIN now for a decent price?

Edit 2: Went again armed with a wall of pre translated text from my accountant everything everything, and despite this I had to spend a whole hour repeatedly schooling them on the law, accounting and the revenue code, with them accepting my arguments each time and then changing the subject and perpetually and erroneously inventing new things I'd need to get the TIN, and after an hour of debunking and debating with 4 staff they just went right back to the start as if we hadn't spoken yet, and at that point I had to just throw in the towel because it was obvious that we weren't going to get anywhere. The principal lady that dealt with me was incredibly smug and rude and childish, and it was very obvious that she simply didn't want me to succeed.. the problem wasn't my paperwork, logic or position; it was her/what she represented. Politeness got me nowhere.

Hi everyone!

I'm applying through HCMC on a soft power visa. Just got a request for supporting documents.

All pretty straightforward, except for proof of monthly income, ending with: "Additionally, please describe your plans after completing the course while holding a 5-year visa."

I would naturally go with something along, "if all goes well I would like to enroll in an advanced program" but I'm wondering if there are any red flags I'm missing.

Had anyone been asked that, and if so, what would be a proper answer?

Thanks in Advance

Are there checks being conducted for the updated balance of the 500k upon arrival at BKK airport?

Applying as a long term resident of Taiwan. The visa office sent me to the National Immigration Agency for proof of current location.

For the proof of 500k in assets, the instructions say 3 months of bank statements, but my bank's statements are generated only on a certain day of the month. Do I just have to wait or can I paste together a web printout of my recent transactions (showing that I transferred 500k THB into by account)? Instead of showing both deposits and expenditures/withdrawals, can I just show deposits since this is more private?

Also I've seen a few people say Taiwan requires 6 months of bank statements, even though the application says 3 months.

I’m a bit confused as far as what type of accounts the “liquid” assets need to be in. Most of my money is an Individual brokerage account with Schwab which I can easily access and transfer from same day as long as it’s not a weekend. Do I need to make sure I have the 500k in a checking or savings account with my bank instead or should this be fine?

UPDATE: My Visa was officialy APPROVED on June 27, and then rejected on June 30. Applied from Ho Chi Minh. I posted about this on this community.

What happened: I contacted the HCM consulate on Line. You can see their answers on image.

Do you know what can I do ? This situation is very unfair. First, not only for this specific case but, not giving any reason for the rejection and encouring to reapply and pay again is a complete scam process. Second, I was granted the Visa, told my family, my friends in Thailand, already preparing my new life, to finally tell them I'm rejected ? I didn’t even get a chance to react or fix anything.

I’m currently in Vietnam but far from Ho Chi Minh, and I’m now stuck dealing with extra costs and confusion caused by their mistake. If I reapply can I reuse my translated bank documents (around 10/14 days old) ?
