Hello everyone, just had a question and was wondering if anyone could advise please.

Wanting to apply from the embassy in London, re the bank statements. Is it six months worth of statements or just one recent statement dated within six months showing the required amount please?

Sorry if that’s a stupid question & thank you in advance for your help.

Question to UK teachers in the group (if there are any....), or international teachers if there aren't.

Have any of you had success gaining a DTV working as an online teacher of English using a TEFL qualification through a UK based teaching agency?

Asking because that's one of the options for my wife and I in a couple of years once I retire from primary school teaching here in the UK, as the security deposit is lower than the retirement visa, and the DTV gives me options to top up the pension with a bit of income.

Any advice/opinions greatfully received. 👍👍

Does anyone know the valid email address of the Thai Consulate in Vientiane, Laos? I have tried two of them, one had no response, another one’s address couldn’t be found.

Is there a good company or person around that would help me convert my non-Visa tourist entry into a possible retirement Visa while I’m here? Currently my Visa runs out on May 19 but I probably could extend for another 30 days.

Cheers

👋 Hi, Any Australian here applied DTV with softpower? I am considering applying DTV with culinary class and after a bit of research I found a couple of courses in BKK that I could attend. My question is my husband will be travelling with me once I get the dtv visa. According to the research that I’ve done, he is eligible to be with me as dtv visa holder spouse as long as we show enough fund to cover in our bank account. My questions are:

1) has anyone done softpower dtv in Australia if so, how easy/difficult was the process?

2) In the case of partner visa to the DTV visa holder, do they get the same entry eligibility ie, can stay upto 180 days with multiple entries for 5 years?

3) I would prefer the DTV eligible culinary classes in places like Hua Hin or Chiangmai however I couldn’t find any DTV eligible culinary classes outside of BKK. Does anyone know such course outside of BKK? Any advise from any Australians who have done this would be much appreciated. TIA

UPDATE 08/04/2025 Bank Account opening

Went to the immigration office in Nong Bua Lamphu with landlord and wife. Immigration officer spoke excellent English and processed my TM30 and issued me with an official letter for the Bank of Bangkok advising on my residential status and intentions for the bank account. Process took 30 minutes and cost 500 baht for the certificate.

I now have a 90 day NON O Visa which I applied for in the UK at a cost of £60.00 and my letter from immigration costing 500 Baht. These along with my Thai telephone number and passport should be sufficient to open the bank account.

I was then advised to return to his office after I had deposited 800k baht and allowed it to sit there for 60 days. Once that had happened I could then apply for a 1 year extension to my 90 day Non O Visa. He also said that the process is much quicker if I went to the Embassy ( I think he may have meant immigration office) in Bangkok as they can make an immediate decision.

Hope this helps

Hi all, I understand DTV isn't a residence permit, but I wonder if it will allow me to file divorce (we are both non-Thais) here in Thailand, and later have it recognised by the country where we got married?
