Has anyone done police clearance recently for UK visas? If so, kindly advise on the process and documents . Thank you in advance
Hello, we are new to Chiang Mai, have been here for 9 weeks. Iโm here with my husband and two kids, our kids are enrolled in an international school and will be getting ED visas soon. Through that, my husband and I can attain Guardian visas for the school year. We are unfamiliar with the process of applying for Guardian visas and will need to leave Thailand soon to reset our tourist visas while we are in the process of applying for them. My kids have appointment on November 3rd to change their tourist visas over to ED visas. At that point, we assume we can start the Guardian visas process. We were also told we would each need to have 486,000 baht each in a Thai bank account. We were also told we may need to have our kidsโ birth certificates notarized, which we donโt have the original copies here with us so would not be able to do. Could anyone recommend a good Thai Bank and any advice regarding the original birth certificates? Could my husband and I leave every 2-3 months to reset our tourist visas? Is that an option for staying here long term?
Anyone applied recently from Indonesia? Just curious how long it took.
Hello, everyone. I am planning to apply for a DTV (Destination Thailand Visa) from Japan. I have one question. When applying for the visa, there is a field to enter the place of stay. For how long did you all book a hotel before applying? Is a hotel reservation for about 15 days acceptable? (The embassy information stated that proof of a stay of 15 days or more in Thailand is required, but I was concerned whether applying with the minimum number of days might lead to a rejection.) I've also heard that once rejected, it can be difficult to get approval later, which is why I'm asking."
2 DTVs approved from Canberra Australia.
Both my partner and I had our DTVs approved from Canberra swiftly and efficiently.
Applied on October 7th end of day. Mine was approved with no further document requests on Tuesday the 14th.
My partner's was cancelled on the 14th due to passport issuing date being wrong (we're sure this was a tech glitch due to passport auto fill as my partner triple checked his application before submitting). Canceled at 1:30pm Tuesday the 14th. Reapplied at 9pm same day. Just approved at 11am on October 16th. No further document requests.
Workcation category.
We both run our own businesses.
I'm an employee of my business. He's self-employed through his business.
Showed proof of regular income, more than 500k BHT in bank account. Payslips for 6 months from our companies.
Company formation documents.
Employment contracts that detailed the work we do for our company.
Cover letters that detailed every item we uploaded (written very simply like for a 4th grader).
Proof of location was a GPS and time date stamped photo (with an app from app store), plane tickets, and my Australian PR visa (I'm from the US, he's an Australian citizen).
We did not have return tickets booked. Just picked a flight for next Tuesday and said in the
Cover letter we'd book once visa was approved.
Also included TM30 (not our lease) which showed we have a rental for a year (which we got just before we came to Australia to apply for the visa).
Much simpler process than anticipated (although putting together all of the docs does take time - we used AI to help us write the letters, employment contract, and create letterhead).
It was so fast to get approval!! We're so happy.
Thanks to everyone in this group. It's been super helpful.
Biggest lesson: Just be sure to enter your passport details manually. Paying the application fee twice was a bummer but in all no hassles!

Anyone had any issues with getting a DTV through the Japanese Embassy?
I know that we are here to discuss visa advice, however I would argue that the fees related to moving money make the various methods of money transfer viable or not viable.
I have one last post about Bangkok Bank because I was about to abandon the เธฟ65,000 monthly transfer because moving to Swift method more than quadrupled the fees making it untenable. On the advice of another member of the group I attempted a 65,000 baht deposit into my ๏ฟผBangkok bank account after it was unfrozen in October. ๏ฟผ The deposit was accepted and using normal wise non-swift transfer the fees went back to the normal $16 a transfer as opposed to $80 via Swift. More importantly, the transfer is correctly noted as an international transfer. I am keeping my Bangkok bank account and will let you know my success in moving from the 800,000 baht method to the monthly transfer method when my visa renews this January.
"PLACE OF ISSUE"
I know this has been asked dozens of times and I read almost all the posts mentioning it, but the responses are very different.
My passport only has 2 fields that can be interpreted as "Place of Issue":
- "Issuing Country": "BRA"
- "Authority": "DPF/CAS/SP"
My country is "BRAZIL" / "BRASIL"
So what information should I put in "Place of Issue", I've already contacted the embassy and it was not very helpful.
