Since the Thai Consulate in Sydney and also the Thai Embassy in Canberra switched to the Thai E–Visa system (Thai eVisa Website) since 19 March 2024, does the Thai Consulate in Sydney still accept 3 Million Thai Baht equivalent in an Australian Bank Account, or, is the situation now like all the other Thai Embassies and Thai Consulates in that the 3 Million Thai Baht would have to be in a Thai Bank Account for the 10 Year Non O–X E–Visa at the Thai Consulate in Sydney??

TLDR : Answer Summary
After the Thai Consulate in Sydney transitioned to the E-Visa system on March 19, 2024, it appears that the requirement for the 3 Million Thai Baht to be held in an Australian bank account for the 10 Year Non O-X E-Visa is no longer accepted. Now, the funds must be maintained in a Thai bank account in the applicant's name. However, there is some variability, as anecdotal experiences indicate that individuals may have previously received the OX visa with the funds kept in Australian banks as recently as August 2024.

My experience is not recent, but I received my OX with the funds in my Aussie bank account in August 2024

It appears that the sweetheart deal from the Thai Embassy in Sydney Australia, with the ten years of the OX Thai Visa as a retiree, is gone.

When Australia changed to the Evisa online application system, the requirements for the OX ten year VISA changed, no longer allowing the $ needed for the OX visa to be deposited in ANY BANK ACCOUNT.. including Australian banks, in your name only.

NOW the $$$ must be in a Thai bank account in your name only.
