My DTV application was just cancelled due to an incorrect passport issue date. Since I have to repay for another application, I want to make sure that once this issue with the incorrect passport issue date has been resolved, there are no further problems. So, in your experience, if I attach the same documents as my previous application and fill out all the passport fields correctly, could they raise any further issues? Thanks.

I went to the Bank with my DTV:

So previously I had an education visa and opened an account with Krungthai. Everything works and I’ve had no problems at all.

However I wanted to move the Krungthai Next app to my new phone so I went in to ask if they could do it (because it would not let me login on my new phone without going in person)

First they asked straight away “visa”. I showed them my DTV and they were confused, speaking in Thai with each other then they called the call Center, as the visa I registered the bank account with was different.

At the end they basically said DTV holders aren’t meant to have a bank account so we can’t register you for the app on your new phone. However you can keep the bank account open and continue to use it.

So now I’m stuck with a very old phone just to use for scan pay.

Not ideal but better than nothing. If anyone has a work around or any advice I’d appreciate it. But yeah seems like they’re a lot stricter now

Did Bangkok Bank notify you in any way? Or just your card and scan stopped working?

If they closed your account...do they let you transfer it to another (foreign)bank?

If you get cash...where do you move it to and how?

Thank you for any advise.

Soft Power APPROVAL at Jakarta Embassy

Applied: September 20

Documents Requested: October 1 (All pages of passport — uploaded same day)

Approved: October 2

Here's what I included in my application.

PROOF OF FINANCES

- A cover letter with: 1) a bullet list of the documents included, 2) a statement that clearly affirms I will not work for any Thai businesses, and 3) a note of what sources of income I have.

- Bank statements for the last three months. Over 500k baht seasoned only for the last two statements.

- A screenshot showing the conversion of the final total balance on my last bank statement to baht.

PROOF OF LOCATION

- A cover letter with a bullet list of the documents included

- Flight reservations

- Boarding passes

- Hotel reservations

- Visa On Arrival

- Limited Stay Permit

PROOF OF ACTIVITY

- A cover letter with: 1) a bullet list of the documents included and 2) a summary of the soft power activity I'll be doing.

- Documents for the one-year seminar package with Discover Thai Nature.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:

- I am a U.S. citizen. For passport place of issue, I put "UNITED STATES"

- I put "unemployed" with income under $20k on the application.

- There's a space in my name on my passport. I've never submitted my name with a space on any document or form ever and I've never had an issue with it before. But I decided to copy it exactly and include the space just in case.

Happy to answer questions if anyone is applying from Jakarta soon. Many thanks to this group and grateful to those who have provided guidance and given helpful advice.

Bangkok bank accounts have been freezing for everyone.

Question is, has anyone managed to keep the account with a dtv visa and how?

My account was opened a year ago and it was frozen a few months ago and I managed to reactivate it. Now it’s been frozen again. Are there any hopes?

Edit: it looks like most people in the comments didn’t notice it’s a dtv group. I know work visas don’t have a problem with having a bank account but I would ask in a work visa group if I had a problem with a work visa bank account

When applying for a Non-Immigrant Type O from the London Thai Embassy, typically how much financial evidence needs to be shown?

1 month or 3 months of statements from my bank account?

I am planning to relocate to Bangkok at the end of this year when my apartment lease ends. I will be applying for the DTV Visa as a digital nomad and will have 500k+ Thai Baht in liquid funds by the end of this month or early November, with plans to continue increasing that balance. I want to make sure I meet the three-month requirement before applying, but in the meantime, is it possible to move on a tourist visa and then travel to Vietnam or Indonesia for a week to switch to the Destination Thailand Visa? Also, do landlords typically accept a tourist visa for a one-year lease? I completely understand if not, but I wanted to know, since Airbnb or hotels, especially as I am bringing my dog, would be much more expensive. Has anyone experienced a similar situation, but got their DTV visa? Which country do you guys prefer when I go abroad to get the visa? Indonesia or Vietnam? Thank you!!!
