It depends on your visa and immigration office. I didn't have any problem collecting my tourist visa extension a few days later in Phuket (ask first)

Better to change to usd and change usd to Thai bahts here. Also if you import more than 10kusd you have to declare it at the custom when you arrive.

Which Thai embassy or consulate is the most accommodating for those with multiple previous visas?

Embassy are not the real problem, the problem is the immigration when coming back.

Easiest one is the one in Vientiane.

(or you can book vip fast track lane online for 1000 bahts).

Penang was ok if you have ALL the required documents. I meet an agent there who could do it for 2k bahts (I didn't use his service tho).

They take them at the bank but your need to put them in bag of 100 before.
