Contact the existing travel insurance company and ask if they will do an extension. We had a policy for two months in Thailand late last year and had no problems extending a further 30 days with the same company. One phone call and then filled out a form they emailed us - done - no problems.....

Nongnuch Kamdee In my numerous years of planning for my wife and I to relocate to Thailand in retirement I have never heard of a "stay permit". Never been presented as an "option" on any Thai Embassy/Immigration website, arisen in any conversations with Visa Agents nor appeared in any Facebook posts relating to this subject prior to your post today. Yes indeed I am now confused.....🤔

Nongnuch Kamdee Incorrect! From receiving the 90 day nonO Imm O visa you have 90 days to arrive in Thailand. On the day you arrive in Thailand the 90 day Visa period commences. You then open a bank account within the first 30 days (and deposit the required funds). This gives the funds 2 months to "mature" to enable applying for a 12 month extension to the 90 day Visa as it expires.

You suffered an unfortunate experience with one immigration officer having a bad day. Past is the past and no one died. You have indicated Thailand is where you want to be and the majority living here would wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment. So now consign the past experience to history and start making steps to obtaining a non-immigrant O visa for residing here. Attach a multiple reentry stamp to it and you can come and go as you please as is your want. Look forward, forget about the rear vision mirror👍
