Same thing happened to me a couple of months back. I have had my bank for about 10 years and received an email asking me to verify my status in branch. Popped in with my documents and passport, system was updated and was free to leave. No problem.
you have every right to ask if there is a problem. Time, money and effort have been spent to ensure we arrive legally. Its not for some jobs worth allow access dependant upon their mood.
You really can do it yourself. Just read the requirements and provide the documented proof. If they require further clarification, they will ask for it.
