Tod, we've done the 30 days visa exempt stamp entry, then, left for Vietnam to get a SETV which gave us an additional 60 days, totaling 90 days of stay here in Thailand. Can we go to the Immigration office here in Thailand and extend for an additional 30 days for 1900 Baht? Which will bring our total stay here at 120?

Just to clarify the part:

"A visa exempt entry can usually be extended for 30 days at the immigration office although I have not heard of anyone extending the 90 days visa exempt entries for any longer than 7 days."

--- this is the one where you have to fly out/leave Thailand and get a visa from another country, right? And you can't just do this at any immigration office in Thailand?

the ones I'm interested in only rents for a minimum of 1 month. That's okay, I'll wait until I get to Hua Hin to see the place in person, then, I will be able to ask all the questions I need answered before I commit to any rental agreement.

And speaking of villa rental, I wanted to book a villa in Hua Hin that I found a few that I like at Room By Room website, but, communications had been an issue and I can't find the fine prints when it comes to rental agreements, policies, stipulations, deposit rules, etc. anywhere in their website. Additionally, once you've booked with them the deposit of 50% of the entire booking is none refundable if you want to cancel. Also, it's kind of hard to book something for 89 days and pay that deposit without seeing the place in person. I also can't find it anywhere in their website the policies and stipulations for paying utilities. Any input on this?

I already have the proof of onward travel leaving Thailand and I would most likely have the proof of hotel booking in Hua Hin, as well. I'll have to weigh my options now and decide which is a better option for me.

Speaking of proof of hotel, will a rental agreement of a villa be acceptable?

OR, end up doing exactly what I did last year --- 30 days visa exempt entry stamp, then leave to go get 60 days visa elsewhere. To go to L.A. for the 60 days, would mean getting a hotel for at least 2 days because of the drive (I'm in Glendale, AZ) plus gas, etc.

On the other hand, I've been really wanting to see Vietnam. Is that a good idea? Is there a Thai Embassy there? I am not going back to KL if I can help it.

Now, I really need to stay for exactly 89 days and preferably without existing Thailand to get a visa elsewhere, so I am planning on going to L.A. Thai Embassy to get it. I am not sure how long will they give me because their website is a nightmare to maneuver! And, they don't answer my emails or phone calls. Sigh!

So, IF they only give me 60 days (I hope, or do you know how long?), then, I can get another 30 days extension at a local immigration office for 1900baht?

Tod, I just checked my passport and the entry stamp from KL and, you're right! I counted the days and it is only good for another 60 days. I didn't notice that before since I didn't need to stay that much longer.

No, I arrived Bangkok on a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp, stayed for 28 days, left for KL to get a visa for just 60 days more, but was given one for 90 days.

yes, that's exactly what I did and yet, I was given a visa good for another 90 days in Kuala Lumpur, though I didn't need it for 90 days.
