Go to the local passport office and they can collect the new passport the next day or they will post it to them.

A lot of agents will advise you of the best routes for them and not always the best for you, they get paid regardless.

Best to work out what exactly suits you and get an agent to follow that route.

I’ve flown in & out of Thailand over 80 times and never been asked for proof of onward flight by immigration but the airline check-in desk asked to see my onward flight details several times.
