Hopefully this thread will serve as a stark warning for all the people who think it’s no biggie to overstay your visa. Ya, you’ll probably get away with it, but if you get caught (eg in the course of dealing with a vehicle accident) you will have this blot on your record for years.
You are assuming that the people asking questions have been following the board for years. This is not the case. Typically it is someone who just recently discovered Thailand and wants to learn more. Some questions are from drunk expats, no question, but most are asked sincerely and they’re hoping that those of us with extended experience can help. If that’s not you, maybe you should go elsewhere.
I would like to know if this was a one off (doubt it) or if she’s a career criminal. If it’s the latter, all bets are off. I remind you that in other countries not far from Thailand people lose a hand for stealing.
I’m American, but I suspect the criteria is similar. They’re not particularly interested in where your GF will be staying, etc. They want to see proof that she has a life in Thailand that she does not want to abandon. Caring for a mother, kids, perhaps a house. These things will bring her back to Thailand. That’s what they want to see.
? If you want to change $100 dollar bills, not only must they be crisp and wrinkle free, but they have to have the blue reflective stripe down the middle that newer bills have. I was just in Thailand and brought home several bills everyone refused.
Time was, this is how immigration workers in the US behaved, also. I have many dual citizens in my family and they say, 1) don’t flaunt the fact that you have 2 passports. 2) Enter each country with the appropriate passport. Then there are no stamps involved.
