In hindsight, I genuinely believe agent services make $$$$ simply by stepping between untoward 'customers' / immigration / banks etc. The fatigue of dealing with varying levels of hmm 'angst', in my observation, makes it easy for each of the customer service personnel to say 'no'. To be frank. If I were in those shoes..... back in the infinite loop goofballs.
Immigration officers experience thousands of entrants in what period of time? The tracking and biometric systems are top notch.
And then the, questions and dismay over what is suggested as capricious and/or arbitrary behaviors re: border bounce, residing v. touring, extensions,,, "why me" ,,, also
Thai is a rigorous tonal language. Thai with second, third, fourth... language skills are also somewhat skilled at detecting , hmmm, less than perfectly polite inflection in one's native speech at immigration.
The 'show' that precedes me at immigration is an E ticket ride. One that has me bright eyed and smiling for my nod from immigration.
I use my USA based phone on my home or office WiFi calling. Pretty well encrypted. Very inexpensive. Of course, no extra charge for phone, text, data. Wow.
Hmm. Embarrassed to report it took one immigration visit one month ago to change 90 day e-TR to 90 day non O, within an hour had bkk and kasikorn bank accounts. Have never border bounced. TR only since 1984 to present. No farang tax. No nonsense. Didn't sweat too much in my shirt/jacket. Rudimentary Thai speaking skills. Good Luck.
