The LTR doesn’t require money in the bank but you have to have a pension of $80,000 USD/year.

They will ask for your tax returns to verify your $80,000/yr income.

@Mike *****
I have a pensioner 10-year LTR visa and I do not have to do 90 day reports.
Marty *********
@Bryn *******
Yes I know but part of the confusion is not understanding what a 90 day report is and it say’s what it is at the top of the form.
Marty *********
Read the title of the TM47 form. You report when you have been in Thailand for a continuous 90 days.

I use Bank of America. I do direct bank transfers to Kassikorn. They used to charge me a transfer fee but several years ago they stopped doing this for me for international transfers. They still charge me $30 for each US bank to US bank transfers. I don’t know why. I’m sure they get their fee somewhere in the currency conversion.

Transfers happen same day. No limits on transfer amounts.

I use a security key for verification so no phone required for transfers. However, I did give them a US phone number and US address when I set up the account so I maintain a US phone number. I’m not sure what would happen if I tried using my Thai phone and/or address.

I tried and failed to set up a Wise account last year to compare the two services.

I’ve been very happy with BofA. I had Wells Fargo when I first came to Thailand and they were awful with international transfers at the time.

You are at the mercy of the exchange rates. Similar to inflation you just have to adjust your spending accordingly. You can look up the history of your exchange rate. Be sure you can afford to live here. Keep some savings available to fund you when the rates are less favorable.

I do wire transfers from my US bank when I need money. My US bank doesn’t charge me international transfer fees. If your bank does charge fees then you can wire larger amounts less frequently.

Terry Morgan OK. You never had an OA or the law office scammed you. You should do as Immigration advises.
Marty *********
Terry Morgan You don’t renew visas at Immigration inside Thailand. You extend your OA or O one year at a time. The one year extension for OA and O is exactly the same except for the insurance requirement for the OA. What is the mistake with your OA?
