Hi everyone. I'm from US and over 50. I'm in Bangkok on a 90 day Non-O visa I got in the US before my arrival to BKK and looking to get my 1 year retirement Visa extension next week. Visa expires on April 4th. Looking online and came across multiple immigration offices here. Which location is best for my needs? and can I make a online appt. ? I tried the mobile app but was unable to book the day for appt. I believe the Immigration Division 1 is the correct office. Just want to make sure in advance before going there.

Thanks in advance🙏🙏🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US expat in Bangkok on a 90-day Non-O visa seeks advice on the best immigration office for a 1-year retirement visa extension, which he plans to apply for before his visa expires on April 4th. He is unsure if the Immigration Division 1 office is the right choice and inquires about the possibility of booking an appointment online. Comments suggest that the Chaengwattana Immigration Office is the appropriate location, and it is noted that there may be specific requirements regarding the remaining days on the visa for extension applications.

I also want to add that my bank account was funded the 800K THB on Jan 22nd and I have to wait till March 22nd for my appt. for my 1 year Visa extension. I came across a comment saying that you need 15 days left on your Non-O. Has anyone filed with less days remaining?

You don’t need to book an appointment. You can just walk in and get a queue number and it will just take a couple of hours longer.

what happens if the office is closing and you’re waiting? I’m concerned about the need to get the bank paperwork then get to the office.

I believe they complete whatever needs to be done for people already in the office when they close but I have never experienced that myself.

My experience is with the Chaengwattana Immigration office in Bangkok to get a 1 year extension. I would obtain bank documents before going. They are valid for 7 days. I updated my bank book downstairs using the machine that is available even when the bank a not open. I would arrive around 8am. The office opens at 8:30am. I usually got my queue number 15 minutes later. I typically got my extension completed within 2 hours. I didn’t use and agent or make an appointment.

If you are also getting a re-entry permit then you are going to have to get in line again.

Avoid going the day after immigration has shut down for holidays. Note there are a lot of holidays in April.

Just get there early when the office opens at 8:30am.

Is there an actual Kasikorn bank branch there? I have everything but the bank book update. I'm nervous about relying on one passbook machine at the office and having it possibly not work (like the one outside my local branch today, where I had hoped to do a trial run). If I can do the passbook at the machine if it functions, but know I have a backup plan to go into the branch when they open, I'll feel much better. I'm planning to go tomorrow.

Thanks.

Yes there is a Kasikorn branch downstairs. If it is not working then just wait for the bank to open. If you encounter problems and possibly have to return another day then it is not the end of the world. Take notes and the next year extension will go more smoothly. You can extend 45 days early in Bangkok. Go as early as you can.

this is the first, coming from the 90-day visa. I also have an injury. Traveling (even by Grab/Bolt) is very difficult. I really hope I don’t need to return. Thx.

there are no appointments. I tried as well. Nothing for march and I could not even look into future months. I don’t know if the system is just broken, but no appointments are available according to the website

I've never heard anyone have these issues before

when I went on earlier today, there was one appointment available for April 17 at 8:30 AM. Yesterday, there was nothing.
