Rodd Miller The O-A Visa is a long stay multiple entry visa. Nothing has changed about this visa. Earlier in the year there’re was much discussion about a health insurance requirement but it has never come to pass. There are a bunch of requirements to get it but it is what you want to get if you are over 50 years old.

Search this site for info about an O-A visa. If you use it right you can get up to two years of entry on this visa.

You could try to get an O-A visa from the US. However you cannot work inside Thailand for the one year term of the visa. Look at the requirements on the Los Angeles Thai Consulate website.

Wow. That makes things easier for people going back to the US from Thailand to get an O-A

Is it O or O-A? If it is O-A then you will be stamped in for a full year as long as you arrive before it expires.

The other important thing to know is that you need to show cash and there are no ATM machines available before the Immigration desks.

And . . . Tod Daniels is a great guy providing great visa advice.

You can stay long term based on being married to a Thai. You can wait two years and come using an O-A visa. Look at the Thai Consulate websites for the several requirements for an O-A visa. Search this group for the requirements for stay based on being married to a Thai.

Long term stays for people under 50 years of age are difficult. I guess I would add that you shouldn’t abuse tourist and education visas.

Kasikorn once told me they could do this but that it would cost a couple of hundred baht and take two weeks. That was six months ago when I asked this and it may depend on your branch. I think it is called a credit advice . Good luck.
