Normally it would not be an issue. Most of the time not very many people at immigration trying to get a re entry visa. But what happens if something unforeseen goes wrong. You arrive at the checkin counter just before the airline closes the counter. Now you are in a rush to get thru security. You just barely make it thru security with just enough time to go directly to your boarding gate which could take 15 minutes. (Long walk). No time to get re entry with immigration or you miss your flight. Like other people have said. Go to immigration office where you live and get the re entry permit before the day of your flight. One less thing to worry about

You will have to get a letter from your embassy explaining why you have a new passport. Once you have this letter then you will go to Immigration with old and new passports Thai immigration will then transfer appropriate information to your new passport.

you have a few choices. Go to Thai immigration and apply for an extension. Or go to a visa agent and they will do for you. You can do a border bounce which will take longer than getting an extension at immigration. Or you do nothing and leave Thailand after your 35 days. You will be fined for each overstay and you will have an overstay stamp in your passport. This is not good if you plan to return to Thailand in the future

A multi entry is a stamp you get in your passport when you have a retirement visa. The cost is 3800 THB and is valid as long a your retirement visa is valid. You can also purchase a single entry which is 1000 THB. Both you purchase at immigration.
