Why did you wait so long to apply for a new passport. This should have been started 4 to 6 months ago. Maybe you might have to go back to your country and get a new passport issued seeing time is running out.

The airlines when you check in for your flight if you do not have travel booked out of your destination will require proof that you have a right for long stay in that country. This can be a retirement visa, citizenship or right for long term stay. At your destination immigration can ask you for your outbound travel. If you do not have proof of outbound travel you can be denied entry. If you are denied entry it is the airlines responsibility to put you on the next available return flight. The airline is the one that has to pay for the ticket and airline can be fined or worst case have their landing rights taken away if they have to many infractions of not checking passengers properly when they checkin.

Normally it would not be an issue. Most of the time not very many people at immigration trying to get a re entry visa. But what happens if something unforeseen goes wrong. You arrive at the checkin counter just before the airline closes the counter. Now you are in a rush to get thru security. You just barely make it thru security with just enough time to go directly to your boarding gate which could take 15 minutes. (Long walk). No time to get re entry with immigration or you miss your flight. Like other people have said. Go to immigration office where you live and get the re entry permit before the day of your flight. One less thing to worry about

IDP is issued in your home country based on your driver’s license from your country. Usually an IDP is issued for one year and if stopped by police you need to show your IDP along with your valid license from your country which issued your o
