Best option for you would be getting a multiple entry visa before you come i think you can stretch that out to 9 months or more.

How can I prolong a multiple 6-month Thai visa?
Lance *******
Arive in Thai then 60day stamp out and back in. Do that again 60 days later. Just before your 6 months is up stamp out and enter again before your enter befor date and get another 60 day's then extend that 30 days. Giving you 9 months.
