Hi everyone, I just want to clarify something. We are here on a METV and today we are going for our first extension stamp at the immigration office. This should be a no issue correct? Just a stamp and no fees or papers to fill out correct? Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion clarifies that while on a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) in Thailand, you can obtain a 60-day stamp upon entry. However, extending your stay beyond the initial 60 days requires an exit and re-entry to get a new 60-day stamp or you can extend your current stamp by 30 days for a fee of 1900 baht. It's also advised to have additional documents such as proof of residency and copies of your passport and visa stamps ready when applying for an extension.

You get a 60 day stamp every time you enter thailand.

enter the first time 60 days

enter the second time 60 days

enter the 3 time 60 days

enter once again just before the "enter before" date on the VISA 60 days

extend that by 30 days

Total almost 270 days IF you time the bounces right and make sure you do the final one just before the enter before date on the visa itself

, none at all. You can go to a border, stamp out of thailand, stamp in&out of another country turn around and stamp right back into thailand if you want to. That's how that visa works

And there is no time restrictions for the length of time we exit Thailand for before re-entry, correct?

The way you get the most out of a 6 month METV is first get it very close to the time you are comin' to thailand. So you don't burn down the validity of the visa not being here :/

You come in get a 60 day stamp. When thats running out you border-bounce <- go to the border, stamp out of thailand stamp in&out of another country and stamp back into thailand to get another 60 day stamp

when that runs out you border bounce again to get another 60 day stamp.

THEN just before the "enter before" date on the VISA itself you bounce once more getting the last 60 day stamp (taking you to about 240 days) and you extend that last stamp by 30 days for 1900baht taking you to 270 days or almost 9 months on that visa.

There is no way to get more than about 9 months out of that visa.

@Y*

I have childeren here in Thailand, like u told it here is correct, but last extension at immigration is 60 days for me.

@Y*
, and pray tell how you do that?

I stay 10 months with METV

all you are doing by getting 30 day extensions is burning up the time of the visa and paying 1900baht for those extra 30 days.

There is no way to get more than 270 out of that visa whether you get 30 day extensions on every entry or whether you just bounce to get 60 day stamps and only extend the last entry by 30 days..

That doesn't give you any more time than just bouncing every 60 days until the visa expires and extending the last entry boy 30 days.

Ok I am further confused... I was under the impression you come in and get a 60 day stamp, then before that runs out you go get an extension of 30 days and before that runs out you leave and re-enter getting another 60 day stamp and before that runs out you get another 30 day extension and before that expires you leave again and get another 60 day stamp which you can extend one final time?

Maybe take your proof of residency here as well together with photo and copy of your passport including visa stamps.

Ok yes. We have those ready.
Tod *********
You are mistaken. IF you are applying for a 30 day extension of stay there is a 1900baht fee and the required paperwork.

With the METV you either exit/re-enter the country to get another 60 day stamp OR you can extend your current stamp by 30 days for 1900baht and then when that winds down you exit/re-enter the country to get another 60 day stamp.

A 6 month METV doesn't meant you can stay inside the country for 6 months. It means the visa is valid for unlimited 60 day entries during the 6 months

It's one extension per entry at most immigration offices
