I think it can depend on which area of Bangkok you live in. I go to the immigration office up near Don Muang airport, I live in Sukhumvit on nut area. But last year I lived in Bearing area, which is actually Samut Prakan, I was told to go to another office.

I arrived on a one way ticket too but I understand that you might be nervous of being asked about your plans after the expiration of your visas. What you could do is book a cheap ticket to a neighbouring country like Laos or Malaysia and cancel it after you arrive. That’s what I did, flight to Kuala Lumpur from bkk I think was about €60, I cancelled it the day after I arrived in bkk.

: I heard it’s only people that entered on a TR visa (60 day tourist visa) and it has to be a visa that has already been extended by 30 days.

The rules are the rules. I overstated back in November but not because I was being cavalier to the rules, it was a misunderstanding. I was given a document that said report back in 90 days, but my visa stamp was only good for 60 days. I didn’t look at my visa stamp until I was already 26 days past my deadline. Had I not been so careless I’d have seen that I was suppose to go back for my extension in October rather than November. I got fined 13,000 baht for my over stay but learned my lesson. If staying here on a TR visa it’s best to stick to the rules, nobody is “entitled” to stay here longterm on a tourist visa, it’s always at the discretion of the immigration officer.

: in theory yes, but it can depend on the immigration officer you get on the day. They don’t have to approve any application.

How long are you with her? What does she need it for? What does she do for a living? Every situation is different.

: the information I got from the Thaiger was that if you entered from a TR visa (I.e. with a certificate of entry rather than visa on arrival) then you can extend your current visa again by another 60 days. I was reading today to see if that’s the case because it was announced from a leaked document but was not released on the royal gazette which is considered a more legitimate source. The fact that our kind poster,

, has informed us that she got a covid extension only yesterday, gives me the information that I needed that they are indeed still issuing them up until March 25th, thank you very much for that info by the way.
