But not at the same level as was advertised with the original package back when it was first launched. I have no problem with you promoting it, and i am sure you are happy with it, but for anyone else, i would suggest you spend a little time googling the program and its history, and you will see that many people were discouraged simply by the complete lack of transparency and information provided as it went through many stages, and almost was completely closed. There are massive threads on thaivisa and other forums about this.

On top of that there was serious attempts to completely scrap the system in

I actually looked closely at the Thai elite program when it first appeared, but then Thaksin went, and a lot of the 'perks' went also (actually i think all of the perks). If it had been simply marketed as an easy visa in the first place i believe they would have had more success in enrolees.

VFS have no say in the issuing of visa's, they can only advise you on the correct paperwork. The actual visa approval is done by embassy staff.

I remember back in the 1980's people being turned away from the Thai Embassy in Singapore for looking like they had just walked off a beach in bali.

There are 56 countries and territories that do not need an entry visa for stays of up to 6 months in the U.K. Only 52 countries are allowed to enter Thailand under the visa waiver rule. So you could actually say the UK is more lenient than Thailand on visa issues. The UK, like Thailand requires many countries to obtain a visa beforehand because many decide not to leave.

Again, it is subjective. Different embassy officers may see things differently. When dealing with claims it may come down to the individual officers subjective reasoning. i am not defending it, just saying it is a difficult subject and not cut and dried. I do not know of any of the many people I know here personally who have been rejected.

For every story like this, i can give you 5 where people got the visa and did not use an agency. This is over the 36 years I have been here. The one major criteria the UK uses is evidence that the person will return home at the end of the visa period. In the cases you mention i can only guess that they saw something that led them to believe differently.

Never had a problem with a simple tourist visa for my wife. Agencies are a waste of money in my opinion.
