For my own peace of mind I booked a temporary onward ticket via a site called "Onward Ticket", at a cost of £11 which was valid for a week and then automatically cancelled ". As it turned out no one checked or asked me at any point in my journey but at least I had a joker to play if needed 😉

Mine took 5 weeks at London embassy. End of November to Xmas Eve. Don't panic, they're on it. if there was an issue they'd have been in touch.

I know it's a bit confusing but here's the deal. The non-O visa is an easy visa to get in the UK (I've just done it). You'll get 90 days on arrival in Thailand and that visa will allow you to open a bank account (Kasikorn are more relaxed). After you have your account you can proceed with your one year extension without all the insurance and police checks etc 👍🙏
