yes, the wife must report your stay within 24 hours of arrival, visa type not relevant.

My local immi office in Mukdahan helped us set up the house for lodging the TM30, using my email etc. Now when I arrive I jump on the PC and lodge the TM30.

keep in mind the village wedding is not marriage. You will also need to register with the local Amphur, each seem to run their own little empire. Wife and I needed to attend with village head man, her parents, and some others. Prior to that needed to obtain certificate from my embassy that I was free to marry. Not difficult but a little time consuming.

To get the visa you also need to have 400k in a Thai bank for a period of time, you cannot get the bank account on a visa exempt entry, you will need a non-o from your home country to open an account.

Graham Seal 555, there is no rhyme or reason to the actions of the IO, if you are entering visa exempt and have no exit plan you will be flagged. If you have a long term visa they don't mind so much.

The reason I decided on a long term visa was the nature of questioning I was getting on arrival, I was waiting for them to ask about the colour of my underwear. All this well before the recent 'crackdown'.

some airlines will refuse you boarding if you don't have an outbound ticket, more than once I have been asked for the outbound ticket at airline check-in. When you do the TDAC it asks for outbound details, leaving it blank or lying may cause the Immi officer to look closely.

Have a look at the o-x visa, 10 years stay, need to keep 3 million in bank. Will look at this when my elite runs out.

Shorts OK paired with good casual shoes - not runners. I keep a couple of short sleeve collared shirts in the wardrobe for visits to immigration / government offices etc. Walking in with a smile and good attitude also helps.

Thai citizenship doesn't come in a cornflakes box like Australia. They actually have rules here and enforce them. Do more research on visas, but if you don't have at least the 800k to put in a bank things will be tough for you.
