it's more like they saw when I opened up my wallet to take out the money initially. The next time I do it I will photograph the moneys conditon beforehand
Yeah lao land border officials are all like this. Never go into Laos by land or at least prefer to be small scammed to death like this. I had an experience where both Cambodian and Lao officials colluded to get me for every bit of USD in my wallet I had before leaving me with just enough to move on. They informed each other on how much they had seen in my wallet originally. Purposely damaging bills slightly when they got their hands on them so I had to take a "discount" To exchange them with their counter part s and a ton of not so nickle and dime scams that all added to my having to pay $50 to $100 USD more than I had planned. I don't remember exactly
there have been horror stories in these groups and elsewhere for being targeted to pay tax, asking to see money specifically on a Thai Bank acct for renewal knowing full well it's impossible but they have discretion to do this for anyone they just don't like etc etc
they are specifically instructed not to and know that they will catch hell from on high if they do whereas messing with standard tourists comes with the territory
no the APEC /smart visa line is as much for the immigration officers as it is for us. It also denotes "don't fuck with them, they are not regular tourists, these are guys we want to court and keep happy"
The DTV is not a real visa. It's a "status", essentially it gives you the right to apply for 6 month visas only for upt to 5 years. If you plan to stay in Thailand long term, BOI / smart visa or elite are better to aim for. DTV is also like having a target on your back for being extorted by crooked immigration officers as well
yeah that's the problem this stuff changes in a whim based on these numbers. No consistency to plan for. They can just come out about announce that visa runs are allowed for now then if they make the call
haha it's not me. It's for someone else bridging to a retirement visa who is wondering if they need to leave or not first. Visa agents are saying they don't need to... Buuuuuutttt
