It seems in the vast majority of cases nothing is said! Which has been my experience thus far! Obviously it can happen, but I suggest a lot of scaremongering occuring here! Don't forget how vital tourism is to the Thai economy!
Not necessarily, but I am over cautious, always been a trait of mine! Several inputs on this site also say they have never had a problem; neither have I. First entered Thailand in 1997,married a Thai lady for 1O years, now divorced, she lives in the UK. And have a mixed race daughter currently at Newcastle University.
Can't recall how many times I've visited, once for 10 months, and the last time for 8 months. And I only intend to visit as a tourist, spending my well earned bucks to support the Thai economy!
And will initially be only entering as a tourist, not thinking about retirement visa presently. I love the country, and totally understand their need to control immigration;( thought opening up to Indian nationals?) but I am also aware this vital tourism is to Thailand. The 5th biggest industry when I last checked. Thanks for your input.
This site seems like an informative source of accurate knowledge on living in Thailand; hence my question. As some of the information produced seems to contradict other aspects stated. Hence would appreciate honest and genuine feedback to my question please.
I have recently returned from Thailand on the 11th February, after being there since June 2nd last year. I had only a visa exemption stamp. During that time I visited Immigration in Jomtien once for 60 days extension,to my then 30 days granted on entrance in June. I did three border runs to Cambodia gaining another 60 days each time. I now have a new passport with no stamps; however,I'm sure the Thai authorities will still have a record of my movements,in and out of Thailand. I wish and hope to be able to return sometime this month, and I'm wondering if there will be any problem in me aquiring another 60 days?
And if so any advice would be appreciated! Thank you.
I have heard about this and the answer is no! Maybe I'll consider Cambodia or Laos as a better option! Definitely cheaper and less westernized, plus could still visit Thailand!
Maybe I was lucky, but I did three border runs to Cambodia in just over 8 months in Thailand. Arrived in Thailand on the 2nd June last year, and departed on 11th February this year. Though next time will apply for a retirement visa, being 66 and a pension of over 65,000 baht a month!
