TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking help regarding an issue with a bank statement while applying for a retirement extension in Thailand. They successfully transferred funds to Bangkok Bank, but their wife's statement from Kasikorn Bank does not indicate it was an international transfer. Comments provide advice on dealing with similar issues, emphasizing that extensions do not require proof of where the funds came from. Additionally, a user suggests requesting a deposit advice to clarify the transfer's origin.

I used Bangkok B exactly same situation as you - when you go to colLECT VISA the bank give you a statement - just hand that in and ZERO PROBLEM

When I had a Kasikorn account, all my wire transfers from the US were coded as domestic transfers because the money arrived to Kasikorn through an intermediary Thai bank.

what did you do to prove it was a foreign payment

I never needed to show it was a foreign payment. At the time I had an OA visa and extended using the 800,000 bank deposit method.

You can ask for something called a credit advice from the bank. This is a document that will trace the money back to its source

This site seems like an informative source of accurate knowledge on living in Thailand; hence my question. As some of the information produced seems to contradict other aspects stated. Hence would appreciate honest and genuine feedback to my question please.

I have recently returned from Thailand on the 11th February,after being there since June 2nd last year. I had only a visa exemption stamp. During that time I visited Immigration in Jomtien once for 60 days extension,to my then 30 days granted on entrance in June. I did three border runs to Cambodia gaining another 60 days each time. I now have a new passport with no stamps; however,I'm sure the Thai authorities will still have a record of my movements,in and out of Thailand. I wish and hope to be able to return sometime this month,and I'm wondering if there will be any problem in me aquiring another 60 days?

And if so any advice would be appreciated! Thank you.
Mark *******
What do you suggest is the ' proper visa' for a holiday? Maybe not even 60 days!?
Dany ********
@Mark ******
60 day tourist visa is the proper visa for a holiday of up to 2-3 months. multiple entry tourist visa for holiday up to 6-8 months with a few re-entries…
Mark *******
Not necessarily,but I am over cautious,always been a trait of mine! Several inputs on this site also say they have never had a problem; neither have I. First entered Thailand in 1997,married a Thai lady for 1O years,now divorced,she lives in the UK. And have a mixed race daughter currently at Newcastle University.

Can't recall how many times I've visited,once for 10 months,and the last time for 8 months. And I only intend to visit as a tourist,spending my well earned bucks to support the Thai economy!

You’re totally right. Failing to plan is planning to fail. You’re doing the right thing by considering all options.

@Mark ******
your question tells us you know that you are in danger of being denied entry on arrival. We know that too. Why don’t you just get the proper visa for your intended purpose?
Graham ******
@Mark ******
With that history be prepared for a tough time and make sure you have the 3 proofs
Mark *******
I don't have 800,000 baht,but my pensions are over the monthly requirement of 65,000 baht.

@Mark ******
You cannot use the 65k per month method for a retirement Non-O Visa obtained in Thailand or for the first 12 month Extension of Stay unless your Embassy still does the income affidavit (USA, UK, Australia etc. do not).

No issues with the 'Tourism Entry Proofs'.

And will initially be only entering as a tourist, not thinking about retirement visa presently. I love the country,and totally understand their need to control immigration;( thought opening up to Indian nationals?) but I am also aware this vital tourism is to Thailand. The 5th biggest industry when I last checked. Thanks for your input.
Mark *******
Thank you Graham. And can you remind me of the three proofs again please!?
Graham ******
@Mark ******
The Three Tourism Entry Proofs

- proof of accommodation for at least your first few nights (hotel booking or a letter of invite from a Thai)

- proof of onward travel (international travel ticket leaving Thailand within your initial 60 day entry stamp exit by date)

- proof of funds (20,000 Baht or equivalent in any major currency in CASH per individual, or 40,000 for a family)

There's no need for funds to be transferred from overseas for an extension based on retirement. That only applies to applying for the initial 90 day Non-O visa inside Thailand

yes this is also what I have learned

hi john -we are seriously thinking about returning to Krabi and thought I had seen that sum of money needed to be in a Thai bank too?
Brandon ************
@Carol ***********
That's not what John is saying. He's saying the only time you need to show that the funds were transferred from overseas to Thailand is to convert to a non-O visa inside of Thailand. Once you already have the visa, the extensions do not require proof of where the funds came from, but they still have to be in a Thai bank account.
Brandon ************
Assuming you used Wise to do the transfer, you have to select the correct reason in the app otherwise it will show as a domestic transfer.

You should be able to get a paper from the bank that indicates it was an international transfer, I think it's called a deposit advice?

Edit: But as John mentioned below. Extensions do not require proof of where the funds came from, that's only if you are trying to convert to the non-O visa inside of Thailand.

its a FET Foreign Exchange transfer form. It cost a few hundred baht.
