@Jim *******
Town and Blue Tree 300 each, Patong 500 each. That are the "official" rates...

But if you ask the boss in town... well... TiT... 😁

@Jim *******
That's quite interesting... I never got any... not in Town, not in Patong. Once I got three certificates for 500 Baht in Town... must have been a mistake...😁

@Jim *******
Oh... okay... that's "new"... kind of. May I ask where?

@Jim *******
Well... um... okay... you are right... and also wrong... 😉

By law this certificate is free of charge. What you pay is a kind of "express fee" for taking it "same day". If you tell the IO that you don't want to pay he will tell you to come back the next day... or the next week... or in two weeks to pick it up. And... if you decide pay the fee you won't get a receipt... that's the big difference to visa and/or extensions. The "funny" thing about this fee is, that not even all the offices inside the same Province charge the same... whyever...

@Eric ******
Well... much more official than from the "Government Press Release Department" is almost impossible, no?

Yep... and everyone knows that. What's your point?

@Milan *******
I don't know why exactly they changed so much in March. After that everyone was expecting similar things from other countries, but... nothing happened yet... luckily...

Yep... your "mystery" is solved, all good. About the IOs in the offices... never heard anything bad about that, they are always 100% correct about the fees. Border checkpoints and Police checkpoints are "slightly" different stories... 😁
