Okay... Non-Immigrant-Visa will definitely do the trick. A workpermit is also great. Tourist Visa was pretty easy long time, not anymore due the last changes in the law about money laundering. Almost impossible is it to open an account without a visa, for that you definitely need an agent. And even then... many agents say "no".

About learning Thai... I dare to say that 99.x% of the foreigners here will never be able to talk to someone about official things in a way that they will have an understanding. Small talk, yes, some words, yes... but business or legal talk? I highly doubt it... 😁

One more time about "only in Bangkok"... that statement is just wrong... Phuket, Hua Hin, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and so on... even at Isaan... people open accounts daily without travelling to Bangkok...

I believe you, I know that it's pretty hard under specific circumstances... but if you do it right almost everyone can open an account everywhere. And again... it happens every single day...

About the language problems... as long as you are in a tourist area there are no big issues with english normally. And by the way... how good is your Thai? I mean... why do you expect everyone to speak a language that you understand...? Just kidding... 😁

Little piece of advice... try the branches in tourist areas, try the branches inside shopping centers or malls. A good story (reason) why you need an account is helpful... something like changing visa, buying something expensive like a car or a condo... things like that. And if nothing works... there are the agents that can solve your problem... cheaper than travelling to Bangkok... ;-)

Seriuous now... your statement is just wrong... accounts are opemed every day everywhere. Nobody say that it's always easy, but it happens. It depends a lot on what kind of visa you have or if you use an agent or on the branch or the on the mood of the staff... but it's still doable outside of Bangkok.

This is a question nobody can answer yet... we will know it for sure in about 3 month when the first people go for an extension. What seems to be pretty clear at the moment is that you don't need to renew anything if you do a border bounce every six month. But TiT... things can change quickly... ;-)
