well, i am not so sure. Thai imigration are known to change the rules of the game quite often. There are the "real rules" and the "unspoken rules". I myself experienced the troubles about getting my NON O visa extension. I understood they would not give me my renewal whatever i do, when they sent me back home for the fourth times because the pictures i was supposed to show didn't suit them for totally stupid reasons (need to wear long trousers, in the kitchen, on the sofa, show the house number, draw a map of the aera where the house is located (no you can't print Google map...) ect ect . DTV visa could very well be revoked or they can request any other dumb rule making it impossible to keep using it because they found this visa not suitable anymore for the country.

i would add that you can't be owner of a villa in Thailand because you can't own land. You could be leaseholder or you could be director of a company that hold a property but this would probably not be compatible with DTV visa.

You still can submit your application. They will probably start to review it from 3 feb. Or maybe it will be reviewed by some staff from an other embassy to avoid too long delays.. Who knows...

i read this story a few days ago and it made absolutely no sense. There is no "entry fee" in Thailand, but this is right that you are technically required to present to the IO proof of funds amounting to 20,000 THB or its equivalent in cash.

The rule is 180 days per year in Thailand, it doesn't change anything if they are consecutive or not, it is cumulative. However, the UK signed a DTA with Thailand to avoid double taxation, i suggest you take a look on it.

i think you make a mistake with the rule that IO can ask to see 20.000 in cash in order to let a visitor into the country. (to prove they can support themselves) It is not a "fee".

based on which ground this fee is supposed to be paid ? It is clearly written at the airport to not give any money to IO's. This story seems fishy to me.

i am on the same process, i will apply for DTV instead on non-0 spouse.
