In Samui we copied every page and had no problems with having to return with extra docs.

We were given a list of things needed to extend. Our OA ‘retirement visa’ certainly does need medical insurance, I suspect that might be what Sams mum has.

Make sure her medical insurance lasts for a year. We got caught out with this and only got five months on our OA visa in Thailand. We now have to do a full extension, in country, seven months before we planned and are struggling to have the funds required. Hope that is helpful. In short, have as much validity on the health insurance as possible!

Be sure to get insurance with a company on the Thai list. We use Pacific Cross who have a dedicated policy for our ‘retirement’ situation.

Thanks. This is not till much later in the year so no pressure to do anything atm.

It really is just in case I need to spend the money tied to my visa! Anything is possible these days....

They gave no reason, just said it was not possible.

We accepted that with a smile and collected all the notes for other possible visas.

Nothing else to do really.

Just an update. We went along to Samui immigration and were told we can not change our 60 day tourist visa into a 90 day non immigrant. (Thanks Hong Kong!)

We have to leave the country and get one outside. Would you happen to know of any locations where this is possible? Any thoughts on this whole process? I am starting to think about an Elite visa as not sure I can handle the stress!

My grateful thanks. We made our application in Hong Kong and they would not issue a 90 day, so extending the process....
