months, it depends on the Questura of your area. There are a lot of delays on that matter, since I chose to apply for a new passport at the embassy of Italy in Bangkok. I had the same need to keep the old passport due to the visa stamp on it. I got the new passport at the same price (116€) but in

weeks, just because the embassy must ask the permission to the Questura of your italian town before proceed. Afterwards I showed both passports at the Thai immigration office. They kept both the passport for one day and they moved the visa stamp from old to new passport for free.
If I go to the immigration office on Monday, they will probably ask me to come back on Tuesday to collect the new passport with the visas recorded. They takes 1 day to move it. The 90 days report deadline, in my case, coincides with the visa deadline itself, so it seems to me that at the end of the day, it's the same, am I wrong?
thank you. The embassy didn't gave me any letter and any receipt as well. I hope it won't be a good reason to put me in trouble by the local immigration office; lately it seems to me they have become rather finicky.
thanks, everything it's clear. Now I'm struggling with the Italian authorities because in my city, Milan, there are no vacancies to renew my passport until October 30th and I have to go back to Thailand before that date. Oh my God... 🤕
