I presume you're talking about an extension of stay obtained in-country rather than a visa gotten from an embassy outside thailand

Yes - you can change the reason of having an extension of stay (in your case from >50 to marriage)

As for the documents- I'm not 100% sure but probably best to say which immigration office you're using or visit them and get the checklist or do a group search for extension of stay - marriage.

Have you advertised the job locally to demonstrate a local Thai can't / won't do the job ?

This may/will help to support your WP application.

@Rob***
- not needing medical/police/others doc's can make it easier to do non-0(>50) 'in-country'.

Not 100% sure if both need to meet the requirements or if one can 'trail' on the others visa/extension - I think so but not 100% sure.

Have a look at this post about 'retirement' visa -

If you don't want to go back to UK to get the non-O-A, you may (depending on the immigration office) be able to come in on a visa exempt entry (or tourist visa) change to non-0 (>50yrs) and then onto yearly extension. (Or even miss one step and apply for the non-0 in hkg)

Bennie TM30

It's not really an issue (yet) for bangkokians

Also note your 90 day (tm47) will restart from the day you return from abroad.

Why o why do people wait until the end date - go early get it sorted . .

Most offices will accept an extension 30days ahead of the expiration date.
Paul *********
That shouldn't be a problem - just make sure you go asap (tomorrow) - extn will be back dated but you / your friend will avoid any o/stay hassles.

Should be no fine, no red stamps- just the 1900 fee for extn.

One day, - today / yesterday immigration were closed. Go tomorrow (the first next working day) get an extension for 1900, it'll be back dated but you'll clear any 'dangers' of being in overstay.
